The core of New Directions is a consistent interaction between student and mentor. Every month will consist of two outings. The first of these is designed to focus on each individual relationship, giving our students the attention they need. We hope to develop an atmosphere of trust. The second outing of each month will involve the entire New Directions community. We plan to encourage a positive sense of involvement that will allow our students to develop into well rounded individuals. With this in mind, we are planning academic awareness seminars as well as fun, positive social events. We are also hosting community service oriented outings so that our students may learn the importance of giving back to their own community. By involving the best of Villanova’s staff, we hope to provide Philadelphia’s teens with information regarding the possibility of pursuing a college education. Our hope is to organize outings to museums, amusement parks and sporting events to offer our students positive social alternatives. With your help, they will be given the opportunity to experience exciting events that they would not normally get the chance to see. New Directions is about providing Philadelphia’s youth with positive possibilities. In the spirit of St. Augustine, we hope they will develop into well rounded individuals, living up to their fullest potential.
