Over the last several years, the economies of countries around the world have become more closely interconnected. Globalization in engineering is profoundly changing the face of corporate America with large engineering companies of different countries merging together, e.g. Daimler-Benz and Chrysler corporations. The Internet has accelerated this globalization of the engineering profession.
With this in mind, Villanova University's College of Engineering is at the forefront of providing meaningful international study opportunities for Engineering students. These opportunities range from a semester study abroad to a full year exchange program.
Through the Study Abroad program, engineering students may take classes at various universities throughout the world including England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, and Germany.
Students may take engineering classes at universities in these countries with the approval of their academic advisor, although students are also strongly encouraged to take humanities and social sciences classes available in these countries to provide a more illuminating cultural experience.
Typically, a student would spend one semester of their junior year at the overseas university. However, electrical and computer engineering students also have the opportunity to spend their entire junior year at the University of Manchester in England through an exchange program set up with the University of Manchester's Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
