Dr. Yimin Zhang graduated from the Northwest Telecommunications Engineering
Institute (now Xidian University), Xi'an, China, in 1982, and received the M.Sc.
and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Japan, in 1985 and
1988, respectively. He was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Radio
Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing, China, from 1988 to 1989. From 1989
to 1997, he held senior technical management positions at the Oriental Science
Laboratory, Yokohama, Japan, and the Communications Laboratory Japan Corp.,
Kawasaki, Japan. From 1997 to 1998 he was a Researcher at the ATR Adaptive
Communications Research Laboratories, Kyoto, Japan. Since 1998, he has been with
the Villanova University, Villanova, PA, where he is currently a Research
Associate Professor at the Center for Advanced Communications, and the Director
of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Lab. Dr. Zhang's research and
development interests are in the areas of adaptive signal processing for
communications, radar, and RFID systems, including space-time adaptive
processing (STAP), channel equalization, MIMO systems and transmit diversity,
cooperative diversity and distributed space-time coding, interference
cancellation, source separation and collision avoidance, direction finding, and
time-frequency analysis. Dr. Zhang is a Senior Member of the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
