The Soils Testing Laboratory includes equipment to perform an
array of:
- index tests
- compaction tests
- relative
density tests
- direct shear tests
- falling and constant
head tests
- rigid wall hydraulic conductivity tests
- flexible wall hydraulic conductivity tests
- unconfined
compression tests
- triaxial tests
- consolidation tests
Major experiments conducted in CEE 3901 include:
- Index properties of soil
- Grain size distribution (sieve and hydrometer analysis)
- Atterberg limits
- Water content
- Identification of soils
- Compaction
- Unconfined compression
- Direct shear
- Hydraulic conductivity (both falling head and constant head)

Laboratory Highlights
Research is conducted in this laboratory as well as the following courses:
- CEE 3901
Soil Mechanics Lab
co-requisite to CEE 3801
- CEE 4801
Foundation Design
The CEE 3901 sections use the facility and perform laboratory
experiments weekly.
CEE 4801 uses the laboratory occasionally in the fall semester for
demonstrations and/or student projects. |
