Service Learning in Civil and Environmental Engineering

Amigos de Jesus Orphanage Project in Poses Verdes, Honduras

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department has a long-standing relationship with an orphanage for boys, Amigos de Jesus, in Honduras. For over ten years, civil engineering students have travelled to the orphanage over spring break to improve the facility. The trips enable our students to combine their technical skills with their call to help others. The students incorporate all aspects of a service learning experience (preparation, service, reflection, and celebration) into their trip. For more information about this service learning experience visit our website and blog.
