Joseph DiGiacomo Internship

The Center for Advanced Communications (CAC), College of Engineering, Villanova University, has established an internship in memory of Joseph DiGiacomo. Joseph DiGiacomo was a 1958 Villanova University Electrical Engineering graduate who founded the Center for Advanced Communications in 1990. Mr. DiGiacomo believed that for the Center to accomplish its mission, it must develop a nurturing and creative environment in advanced communications education and research that will help, serve, and guide students by linking them to the industrial community.

This Internship at CAC will continue Joseph DiGiacomo’s vision by providing a summer internship of $5,000 for a junior EE student interested in Signal Processing and Wireless Communications. In addition, the scholarship will provide a $2,500 support to the student during senior year.

The Internship is open to all Villanova EE Junior students with an overall QPA of 3.25 or higher at the time of application. The applicant must submit a brief essay describing the applicant’s research interest, particularly in the areas of Signal Processing, Wireless Communications, and Antennas with applications Wireless Networking, Radar, and Acoustics/Ultrasound. The application deadline is January 31st, 2012. Application material (Cover letter, Transcript, and Essay) should be submitted to the Dr. Moeness Amin, Director, Center for Advanced Communications room 119 Tolentine Hall. The Internship Recipient(s) will be selected by the Center Director by Mid February 2012.

The successful applicant will spend approximately 10 hours a week, working closely with the CAC graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research professors, and professors. The work will be related to an ongoing CAC grant or contract from a government or industrial sponsor.
