Resources for Incoming Freshmen

Freshman Schedules

Engineering student's schedules are pre-selected by the Registrar's Office. You will not be asked to register for courses.  However, through the Freshman Online site mentioned above, you will be asked to complete a Course Selection questionnaire in order for the Registrar's Office to complete your schedule should your situation include ROTC, athletics, AP credit, etc. Please note that schedules are apt to change throughout the Summer, and will not be available nor considered final until mid August.

You are strongly encouraged to view your schedule at that time for conflicts due to ROTC, Athletics, AP Credits, Learning Communities, and/or Honors courses.

Freshman Year Curriculum

Review the freshman year curriculum and corresponding course descriptions.

Foreign Languages

There is no language requirement for the engineering curriculum. Students who may want to continue their studies in a foreign language and/or pursue a minor in that language will need to take the online Language Placement Test.  All questions pertaining to this test should be directed to the language department.

Engineering Specific Software for your Villanova-issued Laptop

During freshman Orientation, students attend an engineering information technology session where engineering specific software is downloaded on your Villanova issued laptop. Please bring your laptop, CD-ROM Drive (inserted), power adapter, and green network cable. Stop by CEER 209 for engineering software support, if needed.

University Services

Tips

  • Check your Villanova email account frequently. If you do not know your email address and password, call the Help Desk at 610-519-7777.
  • It's a good idea to make copies of your completed medical forms.

AP Credits

Be sure to include Villanova's school code (2959) at the time of the AP test to expedite score reporting. If you wait to learn your scores before ordering them to be sent to Villanova, there may not be time to accommodate Calculus and Chemistry changes in your Fall schedule.

If you have not been contacted by our office regarding AP credits by the end of July, please contact Mrs. Nancy O'Connor at 610 519-4943.

For more information, view the Advanced Placement credit policy.

High School Requirements

You are required to have taken Physics, Chemistry and 4 years of Math. If you have not taken these courses, please contact
Dr. Jerry Jones.
