Villanova University Engineering Mission Trip to Honduras

For the past five years, students from the College of Engineering have worked on various structural design projects for a Catholic orphanage in Honduras. This service-learning course is an outgrowth of the spring semester senior capstone design project in structural engineering.

Each Spring Break, a portion of the class travels to Honduras with the professors and a few chemical engineering underclassmen on an associated mission trip in which they work on the construction of those designs. Last year mechanical engineering students went on the trip to identify possible future projects.

The mission trip is co-sponsored by the  Civil Engineering Department, College of Engineering, and Campus Ministry.
It incorporates all aspects of a service learning experience (preparation, service, reflection and celebration).
