Does Villanova prefer that applications be submitted on-line or completed using the paper application?
It is strongly preferred that all candidates apply to Villanova by utilizing the on-line Villanova Preliminary Application and the Common Application.   Please follow the directions and submit your completed application by the appropriate deadline. If you need a paper copy sent to you, please email gotovu@villanova.edu or call 610-519-4000.

Do I need to take the SAT or the ACT?
All undergraduate freshmen applicants are required to take either the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) or the ACT Assessment (American College Testing Program). When you register for the SAT or the ACT, please request that the test results are sent directly to Villanova University. The SAT institutional code is 2959 and the ACT institutional code is 3744. For more information on the SAT please visit www.collegeboard.com, and for the ACT please visit www.act.org.

For Regular Decision candidates, the SAT and/or ACT must be taken no later than December of their senior year. For Early Action candidates, the SAT must be taken no later than October or the ACT must be taken no later than September of the senior year. All scores must be received in the Office of University Admission by January 7 for Regular Decision and November 1 for Early Action and Health Affiliation Programs.

Do I need to take any SAT II exams?
SAT II examinations are not required for admission or placement.

English is not my first language, am I required to take additional tests?
All non-native English speakers are required to submit either official TOEFL or IELTS results. TOEFL applicants must score at least 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or 85 on the internet-based test, in order to be considered for admission. When you register for the TOEFL, please request that your results be sent directly to Villanova - our institutional code is 2959. IELTS applicants must score at least 7.0 in order to be considered for admission. Please visit the IELTS web site for more information. You should register at least two months prior to each exam in order to ensure you receive confirmation of the test date and for us to receive your results by the deadline. The student who is applying must provide TOEFL or IELTS results. It is not the high school's responsibility to submit the scores.

How many letters of recommendation should I send?
The Admission Committee likes to see one letter of recommendation from an applicant's Secondary School counselor in addition to the required Secondary School Counselor Report.

How do I know if my application is complete?
You can check your application for completeness on-line. Villanova University will provide a pin number and ID to all applicants who apply by the final admission deadlines. The pin number allows students to monitor their application via an on-line, secure web site. The Office of University Admission will mail pin numbers and ID to applicants starting on November 20, 2008 to Early Action applicants through January 20, 2009 to Regular Decision applicants.  The pin and ID number will be new and will not relate to the ID and pin created by applicants to submit an application.

How do I go about visiting Villanova's campus?
Campus Tours and Group Admission Presentations are scheduled throughout the year.  Please get availability dates before you arrive at campus.  Accepted students who are interested in sitting in on classes should contact the Dean's Office of the appropriate academic college.

What is the weather like year-round?
Pennsylvania is fortunate to experience all four seasons. Below are average ranges for each season:

  • Summer (June, July, August/September): Fo 70-94 or Co 21-34
  • Fall (September, October, November): Fo 50-68 or Co 10-20
  • Winter (December, January, February/March): Fo 24-42 or Co 0-6
  • Spring (March, April, May): Fo 42-68 or Co 6-20

Where will I live?
On-campus housing is guaranteed for first year students, who applied as a residential applicant and subsequently accepted as a residential student, for the first three consecutive years, with only a limited number of places available for the last year. University sponsored housing is offered to transfer students on a limited basis. To learn more about housing, please visit the Office for Residence Life.
