Veterans' Certification

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) determines the eligibility to receive educational assistance benefits for students.  See instructions on How to Apply for VA benefits (below), if this is the first time you will be utilizing VA benefits at Villanova University.

To check on the status of your application for benefits, time remaining for benefits, or any other general benefits questions, please contact the Veteran’s Affairs Office of the Philadelphia Education Department at 1-888-GI-BILL-1 (1-888-442-4551).

Service members wishing to transfer their unused Post 9/11 GI Bill education benefits to their children or spouses: please see the Department of Defense (DOD) website on how to apply for the Transferability of Education Benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill (TEB) before applying for Veteran’s Benefits. DVA does not determine eligibility for TEB.    More information is available at the DOD website: http://www.defense.gov/home/features/2009/0409_gibill/.

Benefits depend on your student status: full time, part time, or less than part time. Veterans’ benefits and certifications are processed by the Office of the Registrar, Law School Registrar and Office of Continuing Studies.

Instructions for Qualifying Veterans Continuing VA benefits each term:

If you have not yet applied for Veteran's Benefits, please see the instructions on How to Apply for VA Benefits (below).   Once the application process is complete, Veteran students continuing their benefits must keep a Villanova VA Certifying Official informed of their academic progress while utilizing VA benefits.

Villanova University requests that all returning Villanova University Veteran students submit the Villanova University Enrollment Verification Form for each term they are enrolled/registered.    It is the student's responsibility to notify the Registrar’s Office of any change in the number of credits for which they originally register.  They must also notify the Registrar’s Office if they withdraw from the program.
