Entering through the main door of the building and passing the porter's room
and the parlors we come upon a large foyer containing a crucifix of Christ the
King and four great, colorful mosaics. These may be said to depict in briefest
form the great eras in the history of the Order of Saint Augustine. First, our
holy Father St. Augustine, next the Augustinian scholars in medieval
Universities, the missioners of the Order in the New World, and the foundation
of the Order in the United States, follow in sequence.
All altars, statues and mosaics are the work of the Angelo Lualdi Studios of
Florence, Italy.
