Welcome
to the Villanova University College of Nursing, recently named a Center of
Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing. Ours is a
preeminent Augustinian school, committed to the education of the whole person
within a framework of Christian values and ethics. Welcome to St. Mary Hall
which houses offices of nursing faculty, classrooms, administrative offices of
the College, and the Nursing Learning Resource Center and is located on the
University's beautiful campus located in the western suburbs of Philadelphia.
Our College of Nursing prepares leaders for a changing health care system who
are clinically competent, ethically motivated, and conversant with the newest
technologies that are available to improve care to patients. Emphasis is placed
on educating nurses who will actively participate in professional matters that
affect health care and whose practice will be guided by care, concern and
respect for others.
The College of Nursing is a community of scholars and clinicians that share a
belief that excellent professional education depends on an excellent education
in the liberal arts and sciences. The resources of our distinguished university
enhance the quality of a fine professional program. An outstanding faculty of
clinical experts and the rich clinical resources of the Greater Philadelphia
area contribute to the high quality and fine reputation of the College of
Nursing's undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs. Our PhD
program was inaugurated in June 2004.
Students in the College of Nursing represent 29 states and numerous countries.
Our international focus enriches the learning on campus and provides students
with opportunities to study abroad. Villanova's nursing students are well
integrated into the life of the University and provide leadership in athletics
and countless student activities and organizations. Our chapter of the Student
Nurses' Association of Pennsylvania, an affiliate to the National Student
Nurses' Association, and the Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, nursing's
international honor society, are particularly active groups that enhance our
formal academic programs. Likewise, the Nursing Alumni Society provides support
and validation for our educational endeavors.
The College of Nursing is poised and ready for the future. Our curricula prepare
professional nurses for practice that focuses on health maintenance, restoration
and promotion of individuals, families and communities of diverse backgrounds
and cultures.
One of the College of Nursing's most prominent characteristics is its friendly
atmosphere and the Villanova spirit that pervades all aspects of our academic
life.
Welcome to our school. We hope you will visit us often.
