Villanova Nursing’s Dr. Marguerite Schlag receives national volunteer award in the fight against cancer

VILLANOVA, Pa., October 22, 2007 — Marguerite K. Schlag, Ed.D., R.N. was awarded the American Cancer Society (ACS) National Volunteer Leadership Award in recognition of “long and exemplary volunteer service” to the Society. The award was presented by the national volunteer Board of Directors during its annual meeting in Atlanta in October. Dr. Schlag is the current president of the Society’s Eastern Division affiliate as well as being the assistant dean and director of the Graduate Nursing Program at Villanova University College of Nursing.

Dr. Schlag has provided more than 30 years of distinguished service to the Society, serving in numerous leadership roles, including those with the former New Jersey Division as chairman of the Board, Executive Committee chair, Public Issues and Breast Cancer Task Force chairs. She has been awarded the St. George Medal of the ACS, its highest volunteer honor.
