Villanova Nursing’s Colleen Meakim receives clinical simulation excellence award

Villanova, PA, July 13, 2007 — Colleen Meakim, M.S.N., R.N., director of Villanova University College of Nursing’s Learning Resource Center, in June received the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Award for Excellence in the Academic Setting. She was cited for her support of faculty to plan, develop and implement nursing lab experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, coordination with technical staff to provide computer resources for students in the lab, and her initiative in teaching an instructional program to assist students in evaluating and maximizing their learning styles and test taking skills. Additionally, she is helping to plan the new simulation lab space for the College of Nursing’s new building to be open in summer 2008. Meakim was also lauded for her development of new simulation and programming scenarios, her mentorship in the field, her published articles that share her creativity in problem solving, and her leadership in hosting several all-day seminars for lab managers in the Mid-Atlantic region. Meakim received the award at INASCL’s 7th National Conference on Nursing Skills Laboratories in San Antonio, Tex
