Eighty brave rain for Dream for Eileen 5k Run

Villanova, PA, October 24, 2009 — Intermittent rain and wind were not enough to keep 80 runners and walkers away from Driscoll Hall this morning for the Dream for Eileen 5k Run. Proceeds benefit the Eileen Shea Lupton '03 Endowed Memorial Scholarship for Nursing named for Eileen Lupton who was killed in an accident in Chicago shortly after graduation and before she could start her first job as a pediatric nurse. Her family gives scholarships to nursing students to continue Eileen's dream. Eileen was a talented nursing student as well as a runner. A similar runs also takes place in Chicago each year.

The event was co-sponsored by the Villanova Chapter of the Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP). Alumni, students, faculty and staff from both the College of Nursing and elsewhere on Villanova’s campus turned out in support of the cause. Prizes were given to the top three male and female runners, with the winning time of 20:10.
