Villanova Nurses attend Lobby Day in Harrisburg
Villanova, PA-June 23, 2009—Faculty
from Villanova University College of Nursing accompanied nursing students to participate in the
Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA) Lobby Day at the state capitol in Harrisburg on May 6, 2009.
Sixteen students from the traditional and accelerated BSN programs joined Elizabeth Keech,
Ph.D., R.N., assistant professor; Maryanne Lieb, M.S.N., R.N., clinical assistant professor and
coordinator of the accelerated second degree BSN program; and Bette Mariani, Ph.D., R.N., clinical
assistant professor, for this unique day as part of their Leadership course – the capstone course for
seniors.
Villanova University College of Nursing faculty and students join local State Representative Bill Adolph in the rotunda of the capitol
in Harrisburg for PSNA’s Lobby Day May 6th. They were joined by alumna and nurse practitioner Geri O’Hare (front).
The group met with Reps. Bill Adolph (R-165), Andy Dinniman (D-19) and John M. Perzel (R-172) to
discuss Safe Staffing legislation that will be presented at a later session of the House and Senate.
They attended a press conference in the rotunda where Rep. Adolph discussed the importance of the Safe
Staffing Legislation. They also attended sessions in the Senate and the House of Representatives, and
participated in a networking breakfast with other Pennsylvania state representatives and nurse
colleagues.
