Villanova University nursing leaders share partnership expertise at ICN Quadrennial Congress

M. Louise Fitzpatrick, Ed.D., R.N., FAAN, Connelly Endowed Dean and Professor of Nursing and Ruth
McDermott-Levy, Ph.D., R.N., assistant professor, Villanova University College of Nursing joined
College alumnus Majid al-Maqbali in sharing global partnership expertise with the international
audience at the 24th Quadrennial Congress of the International Council of Nurses in Durban, South
Africa in July 2009. al-Maqbali is the chief nursing officer of the Sultanate of Oman who serves
as director of Nursing and Midwifery Affairs in the Ministry of Health. The symposium "Designing
a Learning Environment to Advance Nursing in Oman” focused on the College's 15-year relationship
with the Omani Ministry of Health to develop an Omani professional nursing workforce.
The Villanova University College of Nursing, established in 1953, is a nationally
