The Health Care Administration concentration prepares nurses to assume
managerial positions and leadership roles in hospitals, community health,
long-term care facilities and other health care systems. Since 1999, it has been
offered in collaboration with the Villanova School of Business. Students
receive an MSN with a certificate in Business Administration, giving them the
tools they need for the challenges of the dynamic health care environment.
Our graduates make an impact on the provision of health care services. They
are employed in health care settings around the world as chief operating
officers, vice presidents, division directors and nurse managers.
At the completion of this concentration, the graduate is able to:
- Conceptualize a framework for professional nursing
practice consistent with positions identified by professional and regulatory
agencies.
- Direct delivery of nursing services within parameters
established by the health care system.
- Establish standards of nursing practice within
organizational systems.
- Promote the development of individuals and staff in
the achievement of professional and career aspirations.
- Apply theories of administration and related sciences
as a basis for administration of organizational systems.
"I was interested in a master's in nursing and wanted to acquire business skills as well. The Health Care Administration program was a great fit."
