Post-Master’s Family Nurse Practitioner Overview

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Master's Program prepares nurse practitioners with extensive clinical practice and role preparation for advanced practice in caring for patients across the lifespan. Students work with physicians and nurse practitioner preceptors, and are given access to a wide variety of clinical agencies and practice settings. The FNP is the most versatile NP role allowing graduates to care for patients, families and communities in a wide array of practice sites from community-based clinics to primary care offices and from retail clinics to urgent care centers.

“I can broaden my scope of practice and take care of patients throughout a larger part of their life…children, parents and often grandparents. Caring for multigenerational families will be rewarding. I have also noted the many job opportunities available which request these added credentials. Upon graduation I will have many more options open to me.”
