If you are applying for admission to the BSN/MSN Gateway Program for Registered Nurses, review the checklist below. We offer a 30% tuition reduction for RN students working full-time and look forward to seeing your application.

Admission Requirements
Phase I (baccalaureate degree)

  • Consider making an appointment to discuss your unique situation, qualifications, and goals. To schedule an appointment or have questions answered, contact Dr. Joyce S. Willens, Program Coordinator, by phone at 610.519.6832 or by email at joyce.willens@villanova.edu.
  • Completion of BSN/MSN Gateway Program for Registered Nurses application and fee of $50 (make check payable to “Villanova University”).
  • Personal Statement of career goals
  • One Letter of Recommendation that speaks to clinical strengths and aptitude for advanced study.
  • Completion of a Diploma or Associate Degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in Pennsylvania or evidence of eligibility for licensure (Licensure required prior to taking NUR 4107 and NUR 4110), and proof of insurance
  • Official transcripts from school of nursing and all college/universities attended
  • A GPA of 2.5 or better in the most recently completed college level courses

Admission Requirements
Phase II (master’s degree)

The following are the admission requirements for Gateway Program students. Admission-related forms and contact information for the Graduate Program can be found here.
 
  • Completion of graduate application (the application fee is waived)
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or above in the BSN/MSN Gateway Program for Registered Nurses
  • Grade of B or better in all NUR 7000 and above courses.
  • Bridge course (NUR 3000) with a grade of B or better and successful passing of challenge examination (NUR 3005)
  • Statistics course with a grade of C or above
  • Two reference letters that address the applicant’s clinical strengths and aptitude for graduate study
  • Personal interview at the discretion of the Graduate Program Director
  • Clinical experience as required by the graduate specialty selected
  • GRE/MAT requirement waived for GPA 3.5 and above in BSN program except for applicants to Nurse Anesthesia Program
