- All Villanova University policies concerning software and hardware policies
are in effect while using the Pocket PC and the software provided as part of the
project.
- Only Villanova University approved devices may be used to access the
Villanova System.
- Portable [Pocket PC] devices must be password protected. See page 54 Dell Axim X3 Guide – User’s Guide
- Confidential data concerning the university or patient information should not
be stored on portable computing devices. If there is no other alternative to
local storage all sensitive data must be encrypted using university approved
encryption techniques. Currently patient data will not be stored on the Pocket
PC.
- Non public information concerning the university or patient information must
not be transmitted via wireless to or from a portable computing device unless
wireless transmission protocols along with approved encryption techniques are
utilized.
- Unattended portable computing devices must be physically secure. When not in
use they should be locked in an office, desk, and cabinet or attached via a
cable lock system.
- Disable infared ports except during use.
- Infared transmissions are discouraged and should never occur in public
locations. Transmission of non public information either patient or university
data should not be transmitted in this modality unless encryption tools are in
use.
