Setting up your PDA

Connecting PDA to PC - Instructions in PDF

Personal Settings

Create or change your password:

  1. Tap Start > Settings
  2. Select the Personal tab > Password.
  3. Select the type of password you would like to use. A strong password must have at least 7 characters that are a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numerals, and punctuation.
  4. Enter the password and, if necessary, confirm the password.
  5. Select how long your mobile device must be turned off before the password is required for using the device.

Change Start and New Menus:

  1. Tap Start > Settings
  2. Select the Personal tab > Menus.
  3. On the Start Menu tab, select the programs to appear under the Start Button.
  4. On the New Menu tab, you can select Turn on New button menu and then select the items to appear on the menu.
  5. When you do this, an arrow appears next to New in the command bar of certain programs such as Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks. You can tap this arrow and then tap a new item to create.

Customize the Today screen

  1. Tap Start > Settings
  2. Select the Personal tab > Today.
  3. On the Appearance tab, select the desired theme for the background.
  4. To use your own background, select Use this picture as the background and tap Browse to locate the desired file.
  5. On the Items tab, select the information you want displayed on the Today screen.
  6. To customize the information further, select an information type, and then tap Options (not available for all information types).

Change input options

  1. Tap Start > Settings
  2. Select the Personal tab > Input.
  3. On the Input Method tab, select an input method and change desired options.
  4. On the Word Completion tab, select desired options for word completion.
  5. On the Options tab, select desired options for writing and recording (your device may not support recording). These options apply to any program on the device where you can record or write. These options do not apply to text you enter using the input panel.

System Settings

Change the clock settings

  1. Tap Start > Settings
  2. Select the Systems tab > Clock.
  3. If you visit a particular time zone often, select it as your Visiting time zone on the Time tab so that you can quickly see the correct date and time.
  4. You can use your device as a travel alarm clock by setting a wake-up alarm on the Alarms tab. Tap the alarm icon to select the type of alarm you want.
  5. To change the way the date or time is displayed on your device, go to Regional Settings.
