These reports, put together by Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates reflect an
evolving set of principles and strategies. The name of the reports—MGOPIO—stands
for “Mission, Goals, Opportunities, Problems, Issues, and Options.” Reports are
viewable by Villanova University Community only, log in to the browser to view

Phase I
This first phase, MGOPIO I, sketches out the scope of the study and provides the
groundwork for future stages of the planning process. This report sets out
facts, identifies patterns, and begins the process of discerning possibilities
and options for the campus. It was presented to the Master Plan committees for
comments and input, and to provide a basis for future discussions.
Phase II
These Phase II interim reports augment Venturi, Scott Brown’s previous
statements of the plan’s “Mission, Goals, Opportunities, Problems, Issues and
Options,” and continues to explore the opportunities and options that appear to
be the most promising, providing direction moving forward with the planning
process.
MGOPIO II includes preliminary location options for some elements of the plan
for discussion with the committee members as well as some first thoughts about
organizational alternatives in and around the campus core.
MGOPIO III—which complements the previous two reports and should be read
alongside them—outlines possible options under consideration, evaluates the
capacity of some key campus sites, and suggests ideas for the near term. Based
on committee reactions to this report, Venturi, Scott Brown will continue to
develop alternatives for campus systems and subsystems—including landscape,
dining, circulation and utilities—in parallel with the overall plan.
