Service Site Leader Information
Saturday, September 20, 2008

Thank you for volunteering to be a Service Site Leader (SSL) for our Annual Day of Service. Now that your registration is complete, we will be contacting you soon to let you know whether or not you will be a service site leader. The decision largely depends on how many Villanovans apply for the limited number of SSL positions.

We thought it would be a good idea to let you know a little more specifically what is entailed in being a Service Site Leader (SSL).

SSL’s are responsible for coordinating a group of Villanova volunteers at one of the service sites.

In the very near future two important events will occur:

  1. Each SSL will be paired up with a co-leader.
  2. SSL’s will be invited to a preliminary meeting with ALL the other SSL’s.

Service sites will be assigned at a later date. So that you have a better idea of SSL duties, we’ve listed key responsibilities below. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. John Kelley (OPTIR)

Additional SSL responsibilities include:

  1. Attending a mandatory team leader training session in September 2008. To make it easier, two identical sessions will be held, one at 11:30 a.m. and the other at 8:00 p.m. The sessions will not exceed 60 minutes.
  2. Contacting the group once the attendance lists are compiled.
  3. Becoming familiar with the emergency procedures. (To be covered in team leader training.)
  4. Taking group attendance on the Day of Service at the Blessing and Send-Off -- 8:30 a.m. at the Pavilion on Saturday, September 20, 2008. At the end of the day, collecting/submitting evaluation forms.
  5. While on site, serving as the liaison between the site contact and volunteers.
  6. Representing Villanova University…doing meaningful service.

Thank you again for volunteering to be a service site leader at our Day of Service. We will notify you soon about your status as a SSL.
