WHO'S WHO in AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES and COLLEGES
APPLICATIONS ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 4, 2008
Each year thousands of students across the United States are nominated
for membership in Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges. Of the group
nominated a much smaller number is selected to membership in this prestigious
organization. Over the past forty years Villanova has used this award to
recognize and honor our own students who, through their leadership ability,
service to the Villanova community, and academic achievement have personified
the values of Villanova University.
Students who will graduate in either December 2008 or May 2009 and who have
earned a 3.00 cumulative Grade Point Average at Villanova University are
eligible to apply for nomination to Who's Who. In order to be considered for
this honor, you must complete an on-line application form and arrange to have a
member of Villanova University's faculty or a professional staff member submit a
letter of recommendation. The University's minimum criteria for selection to
Who's Who are:
-
Proven leadership ability and service contributions.
-
Proven involvement in University co-curricular and extra
curricular activities.
-
Good disciplinary status as determined by the Dean of Students
Office.
-
Senior Class status and graduating either December 2008 or May
2009.
-
Good academic standing with a minimum cumulative average of 3.00.
Please review the
sample Who's Who application form instructions
BEFORE you attempt to complete the
application form. Note that under the "Position" menu, you may select more than
one position. Also note the space for narrative comments. You are limited to 5
lines, therefore, it is important that you describe your leadership and service
responsibilities, accomplishments and contributions succinctly and thoroughly.
The use of short "action" phrases, similar to entries on a resume, is
preferred. The link to the actual on-line application is located at the end
of the sample application form.
A University Committee, whose membership includes representatives from all
four colleges, the administration and the student body, will consider each
application. The students selected by the committee and approved by the Vice
Presidents for Student Life and Academic Affairs will be notified of their
selection no later than December 15, 2008. Those selected by the University will
be invited to a recognition dinner, will receive an engraved pewter plate, a
certificate, and their names will be published in the Who's Who Among American
Universities and Colleges Directory.
If you have questions concerning the application, recommendation, qualifications
or procedures, please contact the Dean of Students Office in 213 Dougherty Hall,
or call 610-519-4200.
