Kaitlin Ryan '09
Captain

Katie is a junior Biology major from Staten Island, NY.
This is her third year as a member of Villanova EMS and her second term
on the Executive Board, having previously served as the Secretary
(2006-07). She currently holds PA EMT-B, BLS Instructor, and EVOC certifications,
and is both a cleared EMT and cleared driver within our organization.
Katie is enrolled in
Villanova's BS/MD program and will be attending Drexel University
College of Medicine beginning Fall 2008. Upon graduation, Katie plans to
attend medical school and pursue a specialty in pediatric medicine. |

Meighan Gallagher '08
Equipment Lieutenant

Meighan is a senior History major from City
Island, NY. This is her fourth year as a member of Villanova EMS and
her second term as the Equipment Lieutenant on the Executive Board. She
currently holds NY and PA EMT-B, BLS Instructor, EVOC, HAZMAT, and PHTLS certifications,
and is both a cleared EMT and cleared driver within our organization. In
addition to Villanova EMS, Meighan is a member of the Larchmont
Volunteer Ambulance Corps (LVAC) of Larchmont, NY. Upon graduation,
Meighan plans to pursue a career in public health research. |

Andrew Packer '10
Scheduling Lieutenant

Andrew is a sophomore Mechanical Engineering major from
Wayne, PA. This is his second year as a member of
Villanova EMS and his first term as the Scheduling Lieutenant on the
Executive Board. He currently holds PA EMT-B, and EVOC certifications, and is a cleared driver
within our organization. Andrew's career plans are undecided. |

Mary Kate Funari '09

Mary Kate is a junior Nursing major and Psychology minor from Glen
Mills, PA. This is her third year as a member of Villanova EMS and her
first term on the Executive Board. She currently holds PA EMT-B, BLS
Instructor, HAZMAT, and EVOC certifications, and is both a cleared EMT
and cleared driver within our organization. In addition to Villanova
EMS, Mary Kate is a member of Radnor Fire Company in Radnor, PA and the
Volunteer Medical Services Corps (VMSC) of Narberth, PA. Upon
graduation, Mary Kate plans to pursue a career as a neonatal nurse
practitioner. |

Stephanie Butler '09

Stephanie is a junior Nursing major from Fairfax, VA. This is her third
year as a member of Villanova EMS and her first term on the Executive
Board. She currently holds VA and PA EMT-B certifications, and is
awaiting BLS Instructor certification. Stephanie is a cleared EMT within our organization. Upon graduation,
she plans to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner. |

Justin is a junior Psychology major from Ocean View, NJ. This is his
third year as a member of Villanova EMS and his first term on the
Executive Board. He currently holds PA EMT-B, EVOC, and BLS Instructor
certifications. He is a probationary EMT within Villanova EMS, and a
member of both the Sea Isle Ambulance Corps and Dennis Township Rescue
Squad in New Jersey. Upon graduation, Justin plans to pursue a doctorate
in Clinical Psychology. |

Michael Buxhoeveden '10

Mike is a freshman Chemistry major (with a concentration in
biochemistry) from Cherry Hill, NJ. This is his first year as a member
of Villanova EMS and his first term on the Executive Board. He currently
holds both NJ and PA EMT-B certifications, and is a probationary EMT
within our organization. Upon graduation, Mike plans to pursue a career
in medicine. |

John Gillespie, CFC
Operations Specialist

John (a.k.a. “Diz”) graduated from Villanova University in 1992 with a
B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Business Management. He was one of the
founding members of Villanova EMS and continues to be active today;
serving as the Operations Specialist since October 2006 and acting as
the Infection Control Officer, promoting Quality Assurance, and
providing general guidance to the Executive Board.
John is currently employed as the Communications Coordinator for
PennSTAR Flight--the aeromedical service of the Hospital of the
University of Pennsylvania--and serves as Captain of Radnor Ambulance
where he has been an active firefighter since graduation. He currently
holds NR-EMT, AHA CPR, PHTLS, FFI, FFII, Rescue Technician, Haz-Mat
Technician, Fire Instructor I, and II certifications. John is currently
finishing his Master of Science in Public Safety Management at Saint
Joseph’s University. |

Matthew J. O'Malley, MBA, BS
Coordinator for Emergency Medical Services

Matt has been the Coordinator for Emergency Medical Services and Advisor
to Villanova EMS since October 2005. In that capacity, he supervises the
professional, developmental, and administrative aspects of the
organization. Working closely with the elected members of the Executive
Board, Matt manages the operational and discretionary budgets, assists
with the development and implementation of programming, and promotes
responsible and informed decision-making among Board members. He also
serves as the primary liaison to University faculty, staff, and
administration.
Matt graduated from
Villanova University's College of Arts & Sciences with a B.S. in Biology
(2004) prior to receiving a Master of Business Administration from the
Villanova School of Business (2007). While at Villanova, Matt gained
significant leadership and Student Life experience through his
involvement with the New Student Orientation Program, the Special
Olympics of Pennsylvania, the Blue Key Society, and his work as a Head
Resident in the Office for Residence Life. He currently resides in
Philadelphia and is employed by the University of Pennsylvania Health
System as a Senior Analyst for Strategic Services, where he participates
in the planning, implementation, and assessment of strategic business
initiatives across all major health system entities. |
