Off Campus Housing
You may wish to communicate directly with the Home Properties
staff by emailing them at
devon@homeproperties.com. The staff can assist you with questions about leases,
amenities, and pricing. Villanova University works with Home Properties as a Guarantor
to the lease. This makes living at Home Properties convenient for you.
If you would like to or need to live
off campus this means you will be renting
an apartment or a room in a private residence in the local community. In most cases
if you are renting, you will need to sign a lease, typically for a period of 1 year.
Villanova's Office of Residence Life has an off campus housing advisor that can
help you with your housing search.
There are several options regarding off-campus housing for graduate students.
You may choose to view the Office of Residence Life website which list apartments
and rooms for rent. You may choose to live with other graduate students and search
for your own apartment. Accommodations vary in price from reasonable to expensive.
The International Student Office at Villanova works closely with a local property
management company, Home Properties. Home Properties manages two apartment complexes
within a reasonable distance to the University. Home Properties of Devon and Home
Properties of Bryn Mawr are two excellent locations for graduate students. Both
locations offer reasonably priced apartments that are both comfortable and convenient.
Gas and Electric
Philadelphia
Electric Company (PECO) can service both accounts of gas and electric if your apartment
or house is outside Philadelphia city limits. You must apply in person if you have
not had an account with them for the past 60 days. You will need to bring two forms
of identification (visa, passport, school ID, alien registration card). In addition,
you must bring your lease or deed as they will need to know the owner’s name, address
and phone number. No deposit is required when you apply. However there is a $6.00
transfer fee which will appear on your first bill. Allow PECO at least two working
days to establish service. They have applications in English and Spanish. If you
need more information, call them at 1-800-494-4000.
