A J-1 Visa is issued to an individual who will participate in a specific program
under the direction of the U.S. Information Agency (USIA). The individual must have
no intention to abandon his/her foreign country residence.
In addition to the J-1 Visa, you will need the following documents:
- IAP-66 issued by a sponsor.
- I-94 issued by Immigration and Naturalization Services.
- A passport valid for 6 months beyond your intended date of departure
If you are married, your spouse (and children) will be issued an J-2 Visa. J-2
holders can work in the U.S. under certain circumstances. Please contact the International
Student Services Office for requirements and procedures.
