Exchange Visitor Visa (J-1)

A J-1 Visa is issued to an individual who will participate in a specific program under the direction of the U.S. Information Agency (USIA). The individual must have no intention to abandon his/her foreign country residence.

In addition to the J-1 Visa, you will need the following documents:

  • IAP-66 issued by a sponsor.
  • I-94 issued by Immigration and Naturalization Services.
  • A passport valid for 6 months beyond your intended date of departure

If you are married, your spouse (and children) will be issued an J-2 Visa. J-2 holders can work in the U.S. under certain circumstances. Please contact the International Student Services Office for requirements and procedures.
