George James
George James, Jr., MFT is a Marriage and Family Therapist at Council For
Relationship's University City office. Mr. James attended Villanova
University as a Presidential Scholar, and majored in Psychology and
concentrated in Africana Studies. He received his Masters of Family
Therapy degree from Drexel University and is currently enrolled in the
Doctoral program specializing in Couple and Family Therapy at Drexel
University. Mr. James is a student member of American Association of
Marriage Family Therapists and a member of the American Association of
Christian Counselors.
Mr. James specializes in working with couples and the wounds in their
relationship. He specializes in looking at issues of race, class, gender
and societal pressures and how they impact individuals, couples and
families. He also works with men and women and the various issues they
deal with, such as gender inequality and the struggles of manhood.
Along with his interest in couples, Mr. James works with
religion/spirituality concerns, sex therapy, improving communication in
relationships, affairs, vulnerability, conflict, loss/grief and
enhancing intimacy. He has worked extensively with men, addictions,
substance abuse, high-risk adolescents, the incarcerated population and
individuals, couples and families from various ethnic, socio-economic
and cultural backgrounds.
Mr. James provides Employee Assistance Program services at a
Philadelphia business, in addition to his clinical practice at Council
for Relationships. He also works at Breath of Life Christian Counseling.
In 2005, Mr. James appeared weekly on CN8’s Morning Show, Your Morning.
He has also appeared on Philadelphia radio station WPHI 103.9 FM now
known as 100.3 FM. Mr. James is certified as a PREPARE/ENRICH premarital
counselor and as a PAIRS relationship mastery, skill-building counselor.
He is also trained as a SOUL HEALING Couples in Crisis counselor.
Mr. James is devoted to working with people to help them improve their
quality of life, to be involved in the healing of their wounds and
enrichment of relationships.
