ABA Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity
The ABA Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession is a diverse
group of committed lawyers that, through its work and programs, is the catalyst
for creating leadership and economic opportunities for racially and ethnically
diverse lawyers within the ABA and the legal profession. We provide a voice to
surface and tackle issues of discrimination, racism and bigotry, and to inspire
the ABA and the profession to value differences, to be sensitive to prejudice,
and to reflect the society they serve.
ALA Office for Diversity
One of twelve offices within the American Library Association, we serve as a key
resource and link to the professional issues which speak to diversity as a
fundamental value and action area of the association. The Office for Diversity
serves as the liaison to the Committee on Diversity and its subcommittees.
Additionally, this office administers the Spectrum Initiative, a scholarship
program designed to improve library service through the development of an
ethnically diverse workforce.
American Association for Affirmative Action
The American Association for Affirmative Action is the association of
professionals managing affirmative action, equal opportunity, diversity and
other human resource programs. Founded in 1974, the American Association for
Affirmative Action (AAAA) is dedicated to the advancement of affirmative action,
equal opportunity and the elimination of discrimination on the basis of race,
gender, ethnic background or any other criterion that deprives people of
opportunities to live and work. The organization's dedication is realized in its
many activities designed to help Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action
(EEO/AA) professionals be more successful and productive in their careers.
American Association of Blacks in Energy
The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) is a national association of
energy professionals founded and dedicated to ensure the input of African
Americans and other minorities into the discussions and developments of energy
policies regulations, R&D technologies, and environmental issues.
American Association of People with Disabilities
AAPD is the largest national nonprofit cross-disability member organization in
the United States, dedicated to ensuring economic self-sufficiency and political
empowerment for the more than 56 million Americans with disabilities. AAPD works
in coalition with other disability organizations for the full implementation and
enforcement of disability nondiscrimination laws, particularly the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
American Association of University Women
The Association-with more than 100,000 members, 1,300 branches, and 550
college/university institution partners nationwide-advocates education and
equity. Since its founding in 1881, members have examined and taken positions on
the fundamental issues of the day-educational, social, economic, and political.
American Association on Health and Disability
The mission of the American Association on Health and Disability is to support
health promotion and wellness initiatives for people with disabilities at the
federal, state and local level, reduce the incidence of secondary conditions in
people with disabilities, as well as reduce health disparities between people
with disabilities and the general population. AAHD achieves its mission through
research, education, public awareness and advocacy.
American Business Women's As
It is the mission of the American Business Women's Association To bring together
businesswomen of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to
help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through
leadership, education, networking support and national recognition
American Indian Higher Education Consortium
The Consortium was founded in 1972 by the presidents of the nation's first six
Tribal Colleges, as an informal collaboration among member colleges. Today it
presents a directory of tribal colleges and universities; information about the
role of tribal colleges in postsecondary education, students and tribal college
graduates; a link to the White House Initiative on Tribal Colleges and
Universities; and articles from its journal.
American Indian Science & Engineering Society
The American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) is a national,
nonprofit organization which nurtures building of community by bridging science
and technology with traditional Native values.
American Society of Women Accountants

The ASPIRA Association, Inc. is the only national nonprofit organization devoted

The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) is the
leading professional association dedicated to enhancing opportunities for
Latinos in the accounting, finance and related professions.
Association of MultiEthnic Americans (AMEA)
The goal of this nationwide confederation of local multiethnic/interracial
groups, is to promote "a positive awareness of interracial and multiethnic
identity, for ourselves and for society as a whole." AMEA provides information
on issues such as government form classifications, multiethnic/multiracial
identity, multiracial parenting, health, education, and transracial adoptions.
Association of Women in Finance
The AWF is dedicated to promoting women in finance related industries by
encouraging their advancement, development and involvement in the business
community. As well, the AWF encourages young women to enter the field and
acknowledges accomplished women who have achieved excellence in their field.
Black Americans in Publishing
Black Americans in Publishing, Inc. is a non-profit organization which supports
the advancement of black professionals and aspirants in all areas of the
publishing industry, through career networking, mentorship, and education

Founded in 1993, The Black Culinarian Alliance (BCA) is a nationwide, non-profit

Black Data Processing Associates
BDPA is a global member focused organization that positions its members at the

Blacks in Government
Blacks In Government®, was organized in 1975 and incorporated as a non-profit
organization under the District of Columbia jurisdiction in 1976. BIG has been a
national response to the need for African Americans in public service to
organize around issues of mutual concern and use their collective strength to
confront workplace and community issues. BIG's goals are to promote EQUITY in
all aspects of American life, EXCELLENCE in public service, and OPPORTUNITY for
all Americans.
Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights
The Catholic League is the nation's largest Catholic civil rights organization.
Founded in 1973 by the late Father Virgil C. Blum, S.J., the Catholic League
defends the right of Catholics - lay and clergy alike - to participate in
American public life without defamation or discrimination.
Center for Constitutional Rights
The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) is a non-profit legal and educational
organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights guaranteed by the
U.S. Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. CCR uses
litigation proactively to advance the law in a positive direction, to empower
poor communities and communities of color, to guarantee the rights of those with
the fewest protections and least access to legal resources, to train the next
generation of constitutional and human rights attorneys, and to strengthen the
broader movement for constitutional and human rights.
Chinese American Librarians Association
CALA is an active affiliate of the American Library Association (ALA) since 1976
and a member of the Council of National Library and Information Associations (CNLIA).
In 1988, CALA established sister relations with the Library Association of
Central Governments Units and Scientific Research Networks of Beijing, and with
the Library Association of China in Taipei. CALA also exchanges publications
with the East Asian Library Resources Group of Australia and many others.
Citizens' Commission on Civil Rights
The Citizens' Commission on Civil Rights is a bipartisan organization
established in 1982 to monitor the civil rights policies and practices of the
federal government. Its work is grounded in the belief that the civil rights
agenda benefits the entire country, not just particular interest groups.

Federal Hispanic Law Enforcement Officers Association
First Nations Adult and Higher Education Consortium
The First Nations Adult and Higher Education Consortium (FNAHEC) was formed in
1997 to promote unity and cooperative action in the development of First
Nations' controlled post-secondary educational institutions.
Hispanas Organized for Political Equity
Hispanas Organized for Political Equity (HOPE) is a non-profit, non-partisan
organization committed to ensuring political and economic parity for Latinas
through leadership, advocacy, and education to benefit all communities and the
status of women.
Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities
HACU represents more than 350 colleges and universities committed to Hispanic
higher education success in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America and Spain.
Although our member institutions in the U. S. represent less than 7% of all
higher education institutions nationwide, together they are home to more than
two-thirds of all Hispanic college students. HACU is the only national
educational association that represents Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs).
Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility
HACR's mission is to ensure the inclusion of Hispanics in Corporate America at a
level commensurate with our economic contributions. HACR focuses on four areas
of corporate economic activity and refers to them as indicators of corporate
responsibility and "Market Reciprocity." They are: Employment, Procurement,

HWC is a model organization, a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit
corporation known for being a proactive leader in the development of Latina
women. HWC empowers Latina women through its commitment to the culture by
promoting education, community involvement, professional advancement and
leadership development for the improvement of our cultural quality of life. HWC
will be the primary conduit of information and opportunities to benefit the
community and instill lasting results toward our future. HWC is also a proud
affiliate of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR).
Institute for Women and Technology
The mission of the Institute for Women and Technology is to increase the impact
of women on all aspects of technology and to increase the positive impact of
technology on the lives of the world's women. The Institute carries out this
mission through four specific programs: The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in
Computing conference, The Systers online community, The Senior Women's Summit,
and the Virtual Development Center (VDC).
The International Association of Black Actuaries, Inc
The International Association of Black Actuaries, Inc. (IABA) was organized in
1992 with the mission of offering a network of support to Black actuarial
students and professionals via mentoring and career development. In addition,
IABA provides financial assistance, mentors and role models for Black high
school and college students wishing to pursue the actuarial profession.
International Association of Black Security Executives
The International Organization of Black Security Executives (IOBSE) was founded
in 1982 by Black Security Executives concerned about the relatively small number
of minority professionals, and the role black security professionals could have
in helping young people.
The International Society of African Scientists
The International Society of African Scientists (ISAS) is a non-profit
organization founded in 1982 to promote the advancement of science and
technology among peoples of African descent. It provides a medium through which
scientists and engineers can channel their skills to solve technical problems
facing Africa and the Caribbean.
Japanese American Citizens League
The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is a membership organization whose
mission is to secure and maintain the human and civil rights of Americans of
Japanese ancestry and others victimized by injustice.
Latin American Management Association
LAMA is the oldest national Hispanic business organization in the United States.
Throughout its 27-year history, LAMA has been the national voice for the
Hispanic business community with respect to federal prime contracting and
subcontracting, and for procurement policy and regulatory issues with the
Federal government, the Congress, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Latin Business Association
The Latin Business Association (LBA), established in 1976 as a private nonprofit
organization, is the one of the nation's largest organization representing the
issues and concerns of Latino business owners.
League of United Latin American Citizens
With approximately 115,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico,
LULAC is the largest and oldest Hispanic Organization in the United States.
LULAC advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political
influence, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based
programs operating at more than 600 LULAC councils nationwide. The organization
involves and serves all Hispanic nationality groups.
MANA: A National Latina Organization
MANA, A National Latina Organization, is a nonprofit, advocacy organization
established in 1974. It's mission is to empower Latinas through leadership
development, community service, and advocacy. MANA fulfills its mission through
programs designed to develop the leadership skills of Latinas, promote community
service by Latinas, and provide Latinas with advocacy opportunities.
Minority Corporate Council
The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) was founded in 1997 to
advocate for the expanded hiring, retention, and promotion of minority attorneys
in corporate law departments and the law firms that serve them. MCCA
accomplishes its mission through the collection and dissemination of information
about diversity in the legal profession.
NANBPWC
The NANBPWC, Inc., is a community-based social service organization which
functions as a support network for Black professional women.
National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering
Since 1974, NACME (the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering)
has provided leadership and support for the national effort to increase the
representation of successful African American, American Indian and Latino women
and men in engineering and technology, math- and science-based careers.
National Alliance of Black School Educators
The National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) is the nation's premiere
non-profit organization devoted to furthering the academic success for the
nation's children - particularly children of African descent.
National Alliance of Market Developers
National Alliance of Market Developers is a professional organization committed
to being a catalyst for positive and progressive change for African-Americans.
The National Alliance of Market Developers was established as black marketing

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
Founded in 1909, the NAACP is one of the oldest, largest and strongest civil
rights organizations in the United States. Its principal objective is to ensure
the political, educational, social and economic equality of minority group
citizens. It is committed to non-violence and relies upon the press, the
petition, the ballot and the courts.
National Association for Bilingual Education
Promoting educational excellence and equity through bilingual education, the
National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) is the only national
organization exclusively concerned with the education of language-minority
students in American schools.
National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies
National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO)
National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education is an association
of Black Colleges and Universities. NAFEO's role in the evolution of these
historically and predominantly Black colleges and universities is pivotal. Since
its inception in 1969, NAFEO's activities have influenced national and
international appreciation for the attributes of HBCUs. NAFEO's chief objective
is to implement programs and policies which affect minority student enrollment,
using diverse strategies to ensure an increase of Black students into HBCU
establishments. To advance the agenda of HBCU presidents and chancellors, NAFEO
coordinates regional, state-wide, national policy forums and other occasions for
dialogue on major issues.
National Association for Female Executives
The National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), the largest women's
professional association and the largest women business owners' organization in
the country, provides resources and services - through education, networking,
and public advocacy - to empower its members to achieve career success and
financial security.

The National Association of Hispanic Publications Inc.
The National Association of Hispanic Publications Inc. (NAHP Inc.) is a
nonpartisan, nonprofit organization representing the Hispanic print nationwide.
Its goals are many: to promote the fast-growing Hispanic print in the country,
provide updated technical assistance to its member publications, educate
organizations, corporations, institutions and governments about the Hispanic
print and inform readers of the ever growing importance of the Hispanic media.
National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals
NAHREP was created to establish a venue where members can congregate, exchange
ideas, and formulate an agenda beneficial to the collective well being of our
segment of the industry.
National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund
The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational
Fund is the leading organization that empowers Latinos to participate fully in
the America political process, from citizenship to public service. The NALEO

National Black Graduate Student Association
The National Black Graduate Student Association, Inc. (NBGSA) is a non-profit,
student-run organization dedicated to improving the status of African Americans
in higher education by systematically identifying and addressing their needs and
concerns. NBGSA membership is open to graduate and undergraduate students,
academicians, institutions, corporations and other groups and/or individuals who
are interested in supporting students of African descent as they participate and
succeed in higher education.
National Black Law Students Association
The National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) is a national organization
created and designed to articulate and promote the professional needs and goals
of Black law students; to foster and encourage professional competence; to focus
upon the relationship of the Black attorney to the American legal system; to
instill in the Black attorney and law student a greater awareness of and
commitment to the needs of the Black community; to utilize their expertise to
initiate a change within the legal system that will make it more responsive to
the needs and concerns of the Black community; to do any and all things
necessary and lawful for the accomplishment of these goals.

Established in 1970, the National Black MBA Association is dedicated to creating
partnerships that result in creating intellectual and economic wealth in the
black community. In partnership with over 400 of the country's top business
organizations, the association has inroads into a wide range of industries as
well as the public and private sector. Yet all of NBMBAA's partners have one
thing in common - they are all committed to the organization's goals and values.

The National Congress of American Indians was founded in 1944 and is the oldest
and largest tribal government organization in the United States. NCAI serves as

and a broad range of federal policy issues affecting tribal governments.
National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and
Science, Inc.
The National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and
Science, Inc. (GEM), a nonprofit organization exists to increase the number of
American Indian, African American, Latino, Puerto Rican, and other Hispanic
Americans pursuing graduate degrees in engineering, physical science and natural
science disciplines.
National Council of La Raza
The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan,
tax-exempt organization established in 1968 to reduce poverty and
discrimination, and improve life opportunities for Hispanic Americans.
National Forum for Black Public Administrators
The mission of the NFBPA is embodied in the organization's commitment to
strengthen the position of Blacks within the field of public administration; to
increase the number of Blacks appointed to executive positions in public service
organizations; and, to groom and prepare younger, aspiring administrators for
senior public management posts in the years ahead.
National Hispanic Business Association
The National Hispanic Business Association (NHBA) is a national network of
students and alumni whose mission is to promote the development of undergraduate
Hispanic business students through educational, professional, and networking
opportunities to foster diversity, higher education, and the improvement of the
Hispanic community.
National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and
Chemical Engineers
NOBCChE is committed to the discovery, transmittal, and application of knowledge
in the fields of science and engineering. The mission of NOBCChE therefore is to
build an eminent community of scientists and engineers by increasing the number
of minorities in these fields. NOBCChE will achieve its mission through diverse
programs designed to foster professional development and encourage students to
pursue careers in science and technical fields. To this end, NOBCChE will
establish educational partnerships with school districts, municipalities,
businesses, industries, other institutions and organizations in the public and
private sectors.
National Organization for Women
Since its founding in 1966, NOW's goal has been to take action to bring about
equality for all women. NOW works to eliminate discrimination and harassment in
the workplace, schools, the justice system, and all other sectors of society;
secure abortion, birth control and reproductive rights for all women; end all
forms of violence against women; eradicate racism, sexism and homophobia; and
promote equality and justice in our society.
National Organization on Disability
The mission of the National Organization on Disability (N.O.D.) is to expand the
participation and contribution of America's 54 million men, women and children
with disabilities in all aspects of life by raising disability awareness through
programs and information.
National Puerto Rican Forum
The National Puerto Rican Forum, Inc. (NPRF) is a leadership organization
working to enhance the socio-economic conditions of the Latino population and
other underserved communities through information, advocacy and direct services.
National Sales Network
National Sales Network is a not-for-profit membership organization whose mission
is to meet the professional and developmental needs of African-American sales
and sales management professionals. NSN is composed of sales professionals and
entrepreneurs from all industries.
National Society for Hispanic Professionals
NSHP empowers Hispanic professionals with networking and leadership

National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
NSBE's mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black
engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact
the community. NSBE is comprised of more than 270 chapters on college and
university campuses, 75 Alumni Extension chapters nationwide and 75 Pre-College
chapters.
National Society of Black MBA's
Established in 1970, the National Black MBA Association is dedicated to creating

National Society of Black Physicists
The purpose and mission of the National Society of Black Physicists is to
promote the professional well-being of African American physicists within the
international scientific community and within society at large. The organization
seeks to develop and support efforts to increase opportunities for African
Americans in physics and to increase their numbers and visibility of their
scientific work. It also seeks to develop activities and programs that highlight
and enhance the benefits of the scientific contributions that African American
physicists provide for the international community. The society seeks to raise
the general knowledge and appreciation of physics in the African American
community.
National Society of Hispanic MBA's
The National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) was created in 1988 as a
501(C)(3) non-profit organization. Widely known as the "Premier Hispanic
Organization," NSHMBA serves 28 chapters and 6,000 members in the U.S. and
Puerto Rico. It exists to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management
education and professional development.

Chemical Engineers
NOBCChE is committed to the discovery, transmittal, and application of knowledge
in the fields of science and engineering. The mission of NOBCChE therefore is to
build an eminent community of scientists and engineers by increasing the number
of minorities in these fields. NOBCChE will achieve its mission through diverse
programs designed to foster professional development and encourage students to
pursue careers in science and technical fields. To this end, NOBCChE will
establish educational partnerships with school districts, municipalities,
businesses, industries, other institutions and organizations in the public and
private sectors.
National Urban League
The Urban League is the nation's oldest and largest community-based movement
empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream.
National Women's Studies Association
NWSA supports and promotes feminist / womanist teaching, learning, research, and
professional and community service at the pre-K through post-secondary levels
and serves as a locus of information about the inter-disciplinary field of
Women's Studies for those outside the profession. NWSA publishes a newsletter
NWSAction and other publications NWSA Journal , an official publication of the
National Women's Studies Association, publishes the most up-to-date
interdisciplinary, multi-cultural feminist scholarship linking feminist theory
with teaching and activism.
Native American Finance Officers Association
The Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFOA) is a national
organization, founded in 1982 by a dedicated group of tribal finance officers
who recognized a need for a forum to share financial information. NAFOA services
all Tribal organizations, governments and businesses without regard to income
levels. NAFOA realizes that many Tribes do not have the resources and/or
training available, therefore offers an annual and quarterly workshops with
competitive conference rates. The workshops provide a wide array of speakers,
training options, and information.
Native American Journalists Association
The Native American Journalists Association serves and empowers Native
journalists through programs and actions designed to enrich journalism and
promote Native cultures.
Native American Rights Fund
The Native American Rights Fund (NARF) is a non-profit organization that
provides legal representation and technical assistance to Indian tribes,
organizations and individuals nationwide.
9to5 National Association of Working Women
9to5, National Association of Working Women is a national, grassroots membership
organization that strengthens women's ability to work for economic justice.
Founded in 1973, 9to5 has activists in more than 200 cities and members in every
state.
Poverty & Race Research Action Council
PRRAC is a non-partisan, national, not-for-profit organization convened by major
civil rights, civil liberties and anti-poverty groups. Our purpose is to link
social science research to advocacy work in order to successfully address
problems at the intersection of race and poverty.
REFORMA
REFORMA is a national association to promote library and information
services to Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking.
Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science
The mission of SACNAS is to encourage Chicano/Latino and Native American
students to pursue graduate education and obtain the advanced degrees necessary
for research careers and science teaching professions at all levels. The SACNAS
annual National Conference and Teacher Workshops, summer research opportunities,
E-mentoring program, and on-line internship/job placement resources are tools
that help a diverse community of students, professors, administrators, and K-12
educators achieve expertise within their disciplines.
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los
Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los
Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional
engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community. Today, SHPE enjoys
a strong but independent network of professional and student chapters throughout
the nation.
Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists
It is the mission of the Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists to
promote excellence in engineering, science, and mathematics while cultivating
the value of cultural diversity by: motivating and mentoring students and
professionals; assisting students in securing financial aid and employment
opportunities; empowering students, parents, and professionals through
educational maes outreach programs; and stimulating successful partnerships with
the community, government, and industry to provide tomorrow's leaders.
United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
A structured organization aimed at developing a business network that would
provide the Hispanic community with cohesion and strength.
Wise-Women
Wise-Women is an international community and network dedicated to supporting
women who work as, or aspire to becoming, Web designers, developers, and
programmers. Our members are talented, dedicated people from all parts of the
world, who come together and share information, tips, and concerns about
developing the World Wide Web, in an environment designed to encourage women in
this field.
