The Office of Music Activities provides Villanova students with unique opportunities to perform, travel, and share their talents and interests. Villanova musicians are from every school in the university. They form close friendships and develop high standards of performance, balanced by a spirit of fun and excitement.

February

8-11   Singing Valentines on Sale!  The Villanova Singers are selling Singing Valentines which will be performed all day on Friday, February 12.  A small group of Singers, dressed in tuxedos, will deliver your Valentine to a classroom, dorm room, office, or if your loved one isn’t on campus, by phone.  Prices are $5 for one, or $10 for a special serenade accompanied by guitar.  Valentines will be on sale in Connelly from February 8 to February 11, 10:30am-4:00pm.
 

Show your affection for that special someone this Valentine’s Day, or just embarrass one of your friends in front of their entire class with a Singing Valentine!

February

  • Members of the Band played for the Men's Basketball Game vs. Seton Hall at the Pavilion.  Voices led the National Anthem and Dance Team performed at halftime.

January

  • Members of the Band played for the Women's Basketball Games vs. Seton Hall, UConn, George Washington, and Marquette at the Pavilion.  The National Anthem was led by the Voices, Spires, and Gospel Choir.  Wildcat Dancers performed at halftime.
  • Members of the Band played for the Men's Basketball Game vs. Notre Dame at the Wachovia Center.  Voices led the National Anthem and Irish Dancers performed at their first men's game during halftime.
  • Irish Dancers performed for an event sponsored by the Philadelphia Ceili group.
  • Members of the Band played for the Men's Basketball game vs. Georgetown.  The Villanova Signers sang the National Anthem and Dance Team performed at half time.
  • Sirens, SuperNovas, and Vocal Minority held auditions for spring semester openings.
  • VST held auditions for its spring production, To Kill A Mockingbird.
  • Band Alumni played for Men's Basketball games vs. DePaul and Marquette.

December

  • Band Alumni played for several basketball games during Christmas Break.
  • Members of the Voices and Singers performed Christmas Carols at Fr. Donohue's President Reception at the National Constitution Center.
  • Members of the Band Supernovas sang the National Anthem andnd Wildcat Dancers performed at half-time.
  • Members of the Band played for the Villanova Football team in the NCAA FCS national semifinals vs. William & Mary.  The Twirlers and Dance Team performed at half-time.
  • VSMT held auditions for its spring semester production, Godspell!
  • Members of the Voices and Singers performed Christmas Carols at Fr. Donohue's President Reception at Sotheby's in New York City.
  • The Spires opened for renowned Irish Tenor Ronan Tynan in the Spirit of Music Holiday Concert at the Ocean City Music Pier.
  • NBT/Supernovas gave a joint End of Semester Concert in Driscoll.
  • The Band played for the Men's Big 5 Holy War Game vs. Saint Joe's at the Palestra. 
  • The Band played for the Women's Big 5 Basketball Game vs. Saint Joe's.  Voices will sang the National Anthem and Wildcat Dancers
  • The e Orchestra & Jazz Band presented a joint Christmas Concert. 
  • SpiresHaveners presented a joint end of semester concert in Driscoll.l.
  • The Villanova Band presented its annual Christmas Concert. 
  • The Villanova Voices and Villanova Singers presented Handel's Messiah as part of the groups' annual Christmas Concert.   A cappellaHaveners and Spires also performed on the Christmas program.
  • Dance Company & Dance Ensemble presented a Fall Semester Showcase, with special guests, Irish Dancers, & Spires.
  • Vocal Minority and The Sirens performed the first a capella concert of the the season.
  • The e Band played for the Men's Basketball Game vs. Drexel in the Pavilion.  Sirens sang the National Anthem and Dance Team will performed at half-time.

November

  • The Band played for the football game vs. Delaware.   The Twirlers and Dance Team performed at half-time. 
  • Gospel Choir presented its fall concert.
  • Villanova Student Theatre presented Neil Simon's Rumors.
  • Special Olympics

    Many music activities groups including Wildcat Dancers, Dance Team, and Twirlers performed outside Bartley for our visiting athletes.   Many groups including Singers and Voices hosted events for the athletes in the quad.

October

  • Breast Cancer Vigil

    The Villanova Voices sang for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Breast Cancer Vigil in the quad.

  • The Band played for the football game vs. William & Mary.   Nothing But Treble sang the National Anthem.  The Twirlers and Dance Team performed at half-time.
  • Villanova Student Musical Theatre presented Little Shop of Horrors.
  • The Band played for the football game vs. Rhode Island.   Supernovas sang the National Anthem.  The Twirlers and Dance Team performed at half-time.

September

  • St. Thomas of Villanova Day of Service

    Music Activities groups participated in the Day of Service by performing at several locations.  Performances were given at the Northlight Community Center, Park House, St. Edmunds' Home, Norristown State Hospital, Sterling Halll Simpson House.

  • A Cappella Auditions - Audition for one or all of Villanova's a cappella groups at the joint audition day.   Registration & auditions for Supernovas (coed) begin at 10am, registration & auditions for all other groups begin at noon (Nothing But Treble, Sirens, Haveners, Vocal Minority, & Spires).  St. Mary's Hall, 1st floor.
  • The Band played for Villanova's first football home-game of the season vs. Lehigh.   Villanova Voices sang the National Anthem.  The Twirlers and Dance Team performed at half-time.
  • The Villlanova Singers participated in the 9/11 Commemoration at the Bryn Mawr Fire Company.
  • The annual A Cappella Barbeque was hosted by six of Villanova's a cappella groups to share information about Nothing But Treble, Sirens, Haveners, Vocal Minority, Spires, and Supernovas prior to group auditions.
  • Dance Company held auditions for pieces for its Fall Semester show.
  • The Band played for the football game vs. Northeastern.   Villanova Singers sang the National Anthem.  The Twirlers and Dance Team performed at half-time.
  • The Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Twirlers, Dance Ensemble, Wildcat Dancers, Gospel Choir, Singers, & Voices performed during the Music Activities Showcase for Parents' Weekend

August

  • Villanova Student Theatre held auditions for its fall production of Rumors.
  • Dance Company held an info night followed by Company Auditions.
  • Villanova Student Musical Theatre held auditions for its production of Little Shop of Horrors.
  • Many Music Activities Groups participated in the yearly Activities Forum.
  • 406 Villanova Music Activities Students (including 163 Freshmen!) came back-to-school a week early to learn new choreography, new music, and get a jump start on fall performances of Little Shop of Horrors and Rumors at Music Camp held from August 15th-19th.

June & July

  • Music Activities held its 20th Annual Summer Music Studies Program for Music Educators.  Thirty-five courses were offered this summer with 626 Music Educator attendees.  We at Villanova Music Activities and University of the Arts hope that amounts to 626 music classrooms throughout the region with newly energized teachers with many new creative ideas being brought to each school!

Pianos for General Use

Pianos for student use are available in the following locations in St. Mary's Hall:

Auditorium - Basement
Practice Rooms - Room 22, Basement
Dance Studio - Basement
Music Lab (keyboards) - Basement
Entrance to Chapel - 1st Floor outside locked chapel door
3rd Floor Lounge (for St. Mary's Hall Residents only)

Some of the above locations are also classrooms.  Access to pianos is only available when the room is free and not being used for class or other planned group activities.  Otherwise, pianos are available on a first-come-first-served basis.   If a room is locked, the key may be available from Music Activities during most business hours.

Additional pianos and locations throughout the campus are being planned.
