Villanova Singers

The Villanova Singers is Villanova's all male chorus. This highly acclaimed and versatile men's chorus dates back to 1953 when Harold Gill Reuschlein, Dean of Villanova's prestigious Law School, established the group for the purpose of singing various types of music and enriching the cultural life of the University. Dean Reuschlein began a tradition of brotherhood in song that has grown to be one of the strongest, most active, most successful organizations on campus. Dean Reuschlein was known to say that he was "as proud of the Villanova Singers as I am of what the Law School has become."

Since 1963, the Singers have logged almost 200,000 miles, leaving behind a long and distinguished trail of accomplishments stretching as far west as California, as far north as Canada, as far south as the Bahamas, and as far east as Poland. Recent tours (since 2000) have included trips to Italy, Austria & Germany, Spain, and Puerto Rico.

For more information, see the Villanova Singers Web site.

Villanova Spires

The Spires are a selective 14-man a cappella subgroup of the Villanova Singers.  They sing a variety of popular music and have toured across the U.S.A. as well as such international destinations as Ireland, Rome, Austria, Germany, and Puerto Rico.

The Spires can often be found entertaining audiences (mostly ladies) on Villanova's campus and the Philadelphia area. The group was founded in the late 1950's mainly as a barbershop singing group. In the early sixties members Jim Croce, now producer Tommy West, and  "Manhattan Transfer's" Tim Hauser helped steer the group toward folk music.  The music kept evolving into what we are today.  The Spires continue to produce a great sound and put on an exciting live show.

For more information, see the Villanova Spires Web Site.

Villanova Voices

The Villanova Voices is the oldest women's organization within Villanova University.  Originally called the Villanova Women's Glee Club, the group was founded shortly after Villanova became coeducational in 1960 by twenty ambitious women from the University's College of Nursing.  These talented young women now have a new name and a new image.  Over fifty Voices now join together from diverse fields of study, and share their common love: music.

Becoming increasingly visible on and off campus, the Voices perform at several functions each year.  They continue to sing at various Wildcat games, Special Olympics ceremonies, and at local charity events.  They also warmly spread holiday cheer with senior citizens at several nursing homes and with the people of Philadelphia at the King of Prussia mall.  The annual Winter and Spring concerts with the Villanova Singers, however, remain the highlight of each semester.  Working together, the two groups have enjoyed the challenge of preparing many difficult pieces like Handel’s Messiah, Rutter’s Gloria, and Faure's Requiem. The Voices tour in the U.S. and abroad.

For more information, see the Villanova Voices Web Site.

Haveners

The Villanova Haveners is Villanova University's only female a cappella group.  The Haveners are a group of 15 fun-loving girls that sing everything from Janet Jackson to Salt 'n Pepa.  They can be found getting their groove on all over Villanova's campus, as well as on tour at other colleges.  The Haveners are a subgroup of the Villanova Voices, the female choral group on campus.  They have toured Richmond, Boston, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Ireland, Rome, Germany, and Austria.

For more information, see the Haveners Web site.

Villanova University Gospel Choir

The Villanova University Gospel Choir gathers singers of various musical experience, ethnic backgrounds, and ages to celebrate music and spirituality through the rich tradition of Gospel music.

Led by director, Ruth Beth Winslow, the choir's spirit and harmonies invariably bring audiences to their feet in auditoriums, churches, schools, and festivals.

With songs ranging from inspirational spirituals to rocking gospel tunes, the choir strives to share the "Good News" of gospel music with diverse audiences, leaving them joyful, hopeful, and filled with spirit.

Sirens

The Villanova Sirens were established in the spring of 2006 and are one of the three all-female a cappella groups on campus. They are completely student run and try to maintain a core group of approximately 13-15 girls. In 2006-2007 their repertoire included songs by Rascal Flatts, Maroon 5, The Pussycat Dolls, Justin Timberlake, Rufus Wainwright, Natasha Bedingfield, Fall Out Boy, Sugarland and Gavin DeGraw. They are especially looking forward to going on tour in California and welcoming new members in the fall of 2007.

For more information see the Villanova Sirens Website or visit them on MySpace.

SuperNovas

The SuperNovas are a co-ed a cappella group. The group started several years ago to give vocalists a chance to sing a cappella music without having to devote time to a father group. The group is run completely by students, from song selection to vocal arrangement to musical direction and performance. They hold auditions for select new members at the beginning of each semester, but their main recruitment is in the fall. They try to maintain a total membership of 13-15 vocalists, with a balance between male and female voices.

Vocal Minority

Vocal Minority is an all-male a cappella group from Villanova University. Founded in 2003, the group began as a bunch of guys who just wanted to sing. Preceded by a group known as the "The Chill," Vocal Minority has become known for being only about the music and having fun.
