Gay Straight Coalition

WHAT IS THE GAY-STRAIGHT COALITION?

The GSC is a group of students, faculty, and staff working together to build upon the Augustinian concept of community. In particular, the GSC seeks to foster understanding of sexual orientation within a Catholic Judeo-Christian environment.

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THE GSC?

  • To educate the Villanova community regarding issues of sexual orientation
  • To foster a welcoming community for gay and lesbian students
  • To combat homophobic attitudes on campus

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

To join in helping the GSC achieve its goals, please feel free to contact Kathy Byrnes via email or at 610-519-4550. Emails may also be sent directly to gay-straight@villanova.edu

The GSC is open to all students interested in helping the group achieve its goals. We believe that homophobia is best overcome through the collaboration of both gay and straight people working together. The GSC offers numerous programming opportunities to the campus community to inform as well as change, attitudes regarding homosexuality. While always looking for innovative ideas from current and new members, some of the programming includes, forums with panelists, guest speakers, selecting movies to be viewed on campus, and programs in the residence halls. Please consider joining to share your ideas!
