RAs are there to assist you.
Living within your building are three Resident Assistants, who are members of
the Residence Life staff. These individuals are graduate or undergraduate
students who will be available to assist you with check-in/check-out,
maintenance and custodial concerns, personal issues and academic problems. In
addition, Resident Assistants will hold periodic meetings to update you on new
developments within the apartments and the University, as well as to solicit
feedback regarding your satisfaction with life in the apartments.
Should you or your roommates need assistance, a directory listing the
locations of the Resident Assistants in your building can be found in the lobby
of your building. The duty hours for these staff members are as follows:

duty, they are still available to assist you. Please feel free to knock
on your RA's door or send them an email if you need assistance |

One Resident Assistant will be available for residents in each
building between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. |
| Friday and Saturday |
Three Resident Assistants are on duty in Klekotka and Moulden, three
Resident Assistants are on duty in Rudolph and Welsh, three Resident
Assistants are on duty in Farley and Gallen, and three Resident
Assistants are on duty in Jackson and St. Clare, between the hours of
9:00 p.m. and 2:30 a.m at the lobby desks. Resident Assistants are
available for residents until 7:00 a.m. (RAs on duty will be in their
rooms between 2:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.). |
All Resident Assistants will post "apartment staff hours of availability" next
to their apartment doors.
Guidelines for Living Within Your Community
The following guidelines are established to ensure a safe and healthy living
environment for West Campus residents. All policies and procedures found in the
Blue Book,
"Student Handbook"
and the Residence Life Section, are
also applicable to students living in the apartments.
Access
Residents of the West Campus Apartments will be able to access the apartment
building in which they live only, on a 24 hour basis. For security purposes the
following applies:
Exterior stairwell doors will be locked each day between the hours of 9:00
p.m. and 7:00 a.m. During these hours, access the apartments via the lobby
doors.
All Apartment Residents will be able to access all eight apartment buildings
during visitation hours - 10 a.m. to Midnight on Sunday through Thursday and 10
a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
All Guests (students and non-students) will have to call the person they are
visiting from the call box on the outside of the buildings to gain access.
Alcohol Consumption and Social Gatherings
Only students who are 21 years of age or older are permitted by the
University to possess and consume moderate amounts of alcoholic beverages in
their own apartment unit.
Students residing in the apartments who are under the legal age of 21 may not
have individuals who are 21 consume alcoholic beverages in their apartment unit.
It is the responsibility of those individuals hosting a social gathering to
ensure that the laws regulating the serving and consumption of alcohol by minors
is adhered to.
Persons hosting a social gathering are responsible for all guests and any
resulting problems from the behavior of guests.
Residence Life staff members may access any apartment sponsoring a social
gathering. Staff members have the authority to direct the occupants of an
apartment to conclude a social gathering when sponsors and/or their guests do
not adhere to University policy.
Sponsors of a social gathering must keep their apartment door closed and
maintain control of those entering and leaving their apartment. Open containers
and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages are prohibited in hallways,
stairwells, lounges, common areas or on the grounds of the West Campus.
Beer kegs in any condition, beer balls, any similar type of common source and
their equivalents in volume of beer and/or alcohol content are prohibited.

Noise
Apartment residents should be considerate and respectful of their neighbors.
Radios, stereos, musical instruments and other sound-amplification equipment
should be utilized at levels that do not disturb other residents, faculty and/or
University neighbors. You should be especially conscious of how sound travels at
night when returning to your building from the parking lot or main pathways.
Note: The placement of speakers in apartment or hallway windows for the purpose
of directing music or noise into public areas is prohibited. Outdoor activities
involving microphones, speakers, sound systems or bands are prohibited.

Outdoor Events
All outdoor events must be approved by the Office for Residence Life and the
Student Development Office. For reasons of fire safety, sanitation and grounds
maintenance, the use of grills and/or hibachis are prohibited in and around the
West Campus Apartments, except in a designated picnic area. In the absence of
formal approval, gatherings in the designated picnic area are limited to no more
than 8 individuals. To reserve the picnic area, please
contact our office.

Pets
No pets are permitted in the apartments.
Room Changes
Students interested in making a
room change should contact
the Office for Residence Life, ext. 94153. Room changes are the exclusive
responsibility of Residence Life. Changes made without approval may result in
loss of apartment residency.
Smoking
All residence halls and apartments are smoke free. Smoking is strictly
prohibited in all areas (public areas and student rooms) of these buildings.
Windows
Under no condition should windows be blocked or window screens removed except
in the case of an emergency. Displays such as banners, collections, decals and
signs (electric or otherwise) are prohibited. Additionally, it is recommended
that residents keep windows locked.
