How were students assigned tripled rooms?
Students were assigned to triples
in “reverse date” of deposit order. Generally, students whose deposits were
received in mid to late April, close to the Admissions deadline of May 1st, have
been assigned to triple rooms.

How long will I be assigned to a tripled room?
At this point, we cannot
predict when we may be able to offer students the opportunity to de-triple. You
should plan on being in a tripled room assignment for the start of the Fall
Semester. During Orientation and the first weeks of school, Residence Life will
identify vacancies to offer spaces to students assigned to tripled rooms. If you
wish to be considered for reassignment to a double room, you will need to
complete a Room Change Request Card and bring it to the Residence Life Office
located on the second floor of Kennedy Hall. You can get a Room Change Request
Card from your RA or the Office for Residence Life. The room change request
process begins on the first day of classes.
While students initially are anxious about residing with two roommates vs.
one, we find that many residents assigned to triples choose to remain in their
original tripled assignment rather than leave their roommates and move to a
double room assignment when offered.

What are some things I can do to make move-in a bit easier?
- Contact both of your roommates to discuss what everyone plans to bring.
- Discuss in advance which bed everyone will take in the room. This prevents the
“first come, first served” mentality and helps to ease the stress of move-in.
- After arrival, all students are required to complete a Roommate Contract with
the assistance of their RA. This document will help you to discuss such issues
as guests, study and sleep ours, sharing items in the room, etc.

Will I have my own computer data port and telephone line?
All tripled rooms
are equipped with three computer data lines. Most tripled rooms are equipped
with three telephone lines. If your room does not have three telephone lines,
two roommates will share a line, but each will have a separate voice mail box
associated with their shared telephone number.

Will I receive a room rate discount, because I am assigned to a tripled
room?
Residents who begin the year in a tripled room will receive a discount of
one-third off their room rate. This credit will be applied to a student’s
account after the first week of classes. The Bursar’s Office will permit you to
subtract the room rate discount from your bill prior to move-in. If a student is
“de-tripled” prior to move-in due to housing cancellations, you will not receive
the room rate discount. Room rate discounts are as follows:
2007-2008
Students assigned to tripled rooms in Delurey, O’Dywer and Moriarty Halls:
$810.00
Students assigned to tripled rooms in Caughlin, Good Counsel, Katharine, McGuire
and St. Monica Halls: $930.00
