RA Application Process for Graduate Students

Key Dates for RA Selection
Reference Form
RA Application

Steps to Guide you through the Application Process

Graduate students are eligible to apply for positions as Resident Assistants (RAs) only. Head Resident positions are generally reserved for seniors or graduate students who have at least one year of experience as an RA at Villanova. Villanova University does not employ Hall Directors or Graduate Assistants. Also, due to the time-consuming nature of both the RA position and the Law program, first-year Law students are generally discouraged from applying.

If you are a current or pending Villanova graduate student, the following is an outline of the Resident Assistant Selection Process. Graduates interested in applying to be a Resident Assistant should review the following dates and deadlines carefully.

1.  Attend an Informational Meeting

We strongly encourage all students interested in applying for a Residence Staff position to attend one of the three information sessions being held.  View the dates here.

2.  Read the RA Information

In order to fully understand the responsibilities associated with the RA position, we strongly encourage you to carefully read all information on this site especially the Resident Assistant job description. We also recommend that you talk with your RA to learn more about the position before applying.

3.  Download the Application and Sign Up For An Interview Time

You can access the RA Application here.  Complete the application in Word and email to jennifer.derry@villanova.edu or print, complete and mail the application to:

Jennifer Derry
Office for Residence Life

If you have difficulty downloading the application or have any questions about the form, you can receive assistance in the Office for Residence Life in Kennedy Hall, by calling 610-519-4155, or by emailing jennifer.derry@villanova.edu.

4.  The Interview Process

Prior to your interview, please take some time to review the Villanova University Mission Statement found here and the Office for Residence Life Mission Statement found here.

The Interview Process will take place over two weekends. Each candidate will be required to attend one morning or afternoon session. Each session will take approximately four hours. Each candidate will be placed in a group of approximately eight people. Each group of eight candidates will participate in two activities together. In addition to these group activities, each candidate will participate in an individual interview.

View Interview Dates and Times here.

5.  You'll Need a Reference

You must obtain a Reference from a University faculty or staff member. Please access the Reference Form, which you must print, sign, and give to the individual writing your letter. If you are not currently a Villanova University student, you may obtain a letter of recommendation from a faculty or staff member at your current institution.
