Special Events
Awards (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible
for distributing all awards to athletes during the event and coordinating all
awards presentations.
Ceremonies (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible
for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies held during the event
Entertainment (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Organizes all
entertainment functions including Olympic Town and the Victory Dance and any
sports-specific clinics during the event.
Fundraising (Chairperson & 2 Assistant)
Responsible
for soliciting sponsorship and in-kind donations for the event. Plans and runs
STRIDES 5K race and works closely on any additional fundraising efforts.
Local Program Hosts (Chairperson & 2
Assistants)
Responsible
for selecting and overseeing the new county committee of approximately 50
Villanova freshmen that will act as liaisons between the counties and Villanova
during the weekend.
Support Services
Facilities (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible
for the organization and delivery of all equipment and the set-up and break-down
of all facilities.
Food (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible
for soliciting sponsorship for snacks and coordinating meals with Villanova
Dining Services for on-campus meals.
Medical (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible
for organizing and scheduling all medical personnel for the event.
Security (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible
for coordinating and organizing all communications equipment and security
personnel needed for the event.
Transportation (Chairperson & 2
Assistants)
Responsible
for all transportation needs associated with the event, including golf carts and
vans.
Competition
Bocce (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible
for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning
etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules
through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Long Distance Running (Chairperson &
Assistant)
Responsible
for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning
etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules
through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Power Lifting (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible
for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning
etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules
through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Roller Skating (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible
for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning
etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules
through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Soccer (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible
for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning
etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules
through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Volleyball (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible
for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning
etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules
through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Administration
Computers (Chairperson & 2 Assistant)
Responsible
for all aspects of computer operations - including registration and competition
results - related to the event.
Evaluations (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible
for coordinating all logistics and plans for the event evaluation team,
organizing a schedule with the Head Evaluator, and ensuring that a thorough,
professional evaluation takes place in order to enhance such events in the
future.
Finance (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible
for record keeping of all revenues and expenses as well as purchase orders,
in-kind donations, and sales of SOPA merchandise.
Registration (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible
for preparing all information associated with the event, and for managing the
registration of all athletes and coaches, and anyone else (Staff, VIP's, etc.)
associated with the event. Head of Delegation registration packets include
credentials, handbooks, schedules, gifts, computer reports, rosters, and updated
information related to the event.
Signage (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible
for all signage needs associated with the event
Healthy Athletes (Chairperson & Assistant)
In charge of
the Healthy Athletes clinics and clinicians that provide free screening and
testing for the Athletes.
Human Resources
Housing (Chairperson & 2 Assistant)
Responsible
for meeting the accommodation needs of those involved with the event
Off Campus Volunteers (Chairperson &
Assistant)
Responsible
for the coordination, recruitment, and training of all off-campus volunteers
needed for the competition.
On Campus Volunteers (Chairperson & 2
Assistants)
Responsible
for the coordination, recruitment, and training of all on-campus volunteers
needed for the competition.
VIPs/Hospitality (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible
for meeting the hospitality needs of the athletes, coaches, and families; and
coordinating all events for the families and VIPs
Media/Publicity (Chairperson & 2
Assistant)
Responsible
for the on-campus distribution of information related to the event, as well as
on-campus promotional and advertising efforts for the event. Also responsible
for maintaining contact with the SOPA Communications liaison and assisting in
SOPA's public relations efforts as needed.
