Coaches

We realize what an important job coaches and family members have in training and supporting their Special Olympics athletes. That's why our Villanova Special Olympics Committee seeks to provide you with as much support and hospitality as possible. Through this website, you can download our comprehensive Coaches' Handbook, receive Family Information (including discounted hotel opportunities), get information on Registration and Arrival, review Safety Procedures, and check competition schedules. Please take the time to complete our online evaluation!!

Below coaches can also review pertinent rules information, see important updates, and obtain appropriate contact information.

Games Rules Committee

In case of an appeal to a denied protest, the following individuals will act as the deciding body to rule on the final decision:

  • Charlie Hannon – Fall Festival Director of Competition
  • Jeff Baxter – SOPA Associate Director of Competition
  • Head of Delegation & Alternate Head of Delegation – Will be announced at Head of Delegation Meeting

Sports Open Forum Meeting

Come learn about SOPA’s progress with on-line games registration. We’ll discuss how to do on-line athlete and coach rosters, utilize Games Management Software to cut back on your paperwork and other ways to streamline your entry info. Come with your questions, comments and suggestions! It will be on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in Bartley Hall Room 1064.

Head Coaches’ Meetings

The head coach is responsible for the coordination and management of those athletes from the delegation competing in a given sport. The head coach is primarily responsible for ensuring that athletes are at the various competition sites and events, properly equipped, and trained for that event. Any problems relating to a given athlete during the sports activities will be addressed to the head coach.

The following meetings are scheduled for head coaches for sports-specific information and to address competition concerns. It is the head coach’s responsibility and obligation to attend all Head Coaches’ meetings.
