Founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver with the intent of helping people with intellectual disabilities develop self-confidence, social skills and a sense of personal accomplishment, Special Olympics gives inspiration not only to those athletes who so valiantly compete, but also to those who give so generously of their time and money. Since 1979, Villanova University has committed itself to serving those with intellectual disabilities by adopting a Special Olympics program. Since 1988, Villanova and its dynamic, entirely student committee has hosted the ever-growing Fall Festival.
