Undergraduates whose papers have passed a faculty review process will have the opportunity to share their ideas with their peers and their families. There will be awards given to the top two papers in the group. All are welcome to attend!  Refreshments will be provided. Many have argued that the candidacy of Barack Obama represents the final nail in the coffin of "Black Politics." Join Professor Frank Allen Pryor of the Political Science department for a discussion of whether or not his seeking the highest office in the land as well as overwhelming white electoral support portend the end of racism and the multi-faceted black predicament.

Arts & Sciences Professional Development Program

Beginning in Orientation, faculty advisors engage students in discussions about the value of a Liberal Arts and Sciences education and the many professional opportunities possible as a Villanova graduate. Alumni meet with students to discuss how Villanova shaped them both professionally and personally. Advisors support students as they make decisions about academic majors as well as extracurricular activities such as internships and study abroad.

One Book Villanova Discussion
The Glass Castle

Join us for a discussion of The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls, the 2008-2009 One Book Villanova selection. The One Book Villanova Program is designed to have a campus-wide program to engage all members of the university community – including parents, students, faculty, alumni - in reading and discussion of an important contemporary book. The goal of the “One Book Villanova” is to take a single provocative work as a starting point for conversation and interchange around a range of pressing issues.

Faith, Politics, and the 2008 Election

With the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign in full swing, many pundits and commentators are striving to understand the political behavior of Latinos—the largest minority in the United States and a key voting block that presidential candidates in this election and beyond will have to learn how to secure.  Building upon her recently published book, The Politics of Latino Faith, Professor Catherine Wilson of the Political Science department will offer insight into how pivotal religious identity is in understanding and predicting Latino political involvement in the United States.

The influence of the fifth century North African Bishop, Augustine of Hippo, continues to be made present in Villanova's twenty-first century community.  Please join Joseph Farrell, O.S.A, S.T.D.,. as he discusses how the Friars of the Order of St. Augustine (the Augustinians) collaborate with all participants of the Villanova community in creating and insuring how our Catholic and Augustinian center of learning is energized by our Augustinian Spirituality.
