Nationally Recognized Technology Leadership
Today's Villanova University
campus provides online access to an array of
information and services, from classroom
lectures, to library catalogs, to dining
services menus, to on-line course
registration, to distance learning
opportunities. Villanova offers campus-wide
wired and wireless data network access,
cellular phone services and access to cable
TV, as well as remote computing resources
via the Internet. Broadband cable
facilitates video transmission to and from
more than 100 classrooms for implementation
of multi-media teaching technology into the
curriculum. Full video conferencing and
multi media facilities provide a dynamic
dimension to interactive learning. Computer
based and digital equipment enable faculty
and students to communicate more
efficiently, enhance research project
capabilities and introduce visual and
dynamic solutions to real world situations.
In recognition of the depth
and breadth of campus technology at
Villanova, PC Magazine in conjunction
with The Princeton Review recently
named the University, No 1 among "The Top 10
Most Wired Campuses." The college guide's
list illustrates the pervasiveness of
information technology on campus today. The
Princeton Review gathered responses from
more than 100,000 college students, as well
as data from campus administrators. Through
select technology alliances Villanova is
able to provide these technologies to the
faculty and student body. Villanova University adopted
a student-centered approach that encourages the use of
appropriate technology as needed to enhance teaching and
learning and to enable best administrative practices.
Partnering with business organizations may
be a means to achieve this goal when the areas expertise
of the prospective partner complement those of Villanova,
and the partnership will add value to both organizations.
Villanova Business partnerships should:
- Enhance the mission of the University.
- Preserve the integrity of the University's academic
vision.
- Preserve faculty autonomy.
Villanova's decision to pursue and accept
a given partnership will be made by the president or the appropriate
vice president after consultation with affected parties.
