Mission: UCIT is responsible for review and approval of all major
information technology initiatives and all technology policy and
strategy at Villanova University.
Its deliberations and decisions reflect the University's academic and
administrative needs and its strategic plan. Major projects are
initiated by the University's departments and forwarded to the Academic
or Administrative Committee. Any of the committees can submit selected
projects to UCIT on a predetermined schedule. Proposals will be
presented to the Council in a standard format to ensure completeness and
enough detail to allow for timely and substantiated decision-making.
UCIT will evaluate proposed initiatives to identify optimal benefits
across the University community and the relative importance of
individual projects. Where necessary, UCIT will submit requests for
project resources to the Administrative Planning and Budget Committee (APBC).
UCIT will approve University-wide policies as they relate to the
implementation and utilization of Information Technology resources and
consult with Legal Counsel and the Vice Presidents Council where
necessary. The Council will formally review the strategic technological
directions of the University and approve adjustments to directions as
needed.
It is critical that UCIT has appropriate participants for its
deliberations. To this end, the membership will be reviewed on a
periodic basis, with changes made in Council membership as deemed
appropriate.
