My computer won't print.
The most common reason students are unable to print is because they are not
logged in. You must log into Novell with your user name and password in order to
use the printer. Other reasons often cause students to be unable to print, such
as a printer jam, or network problems. In this case seek a consultant to help
you.
What is my user ID and Password?
Each student has been given a user id and password to access the network.
This is password is the same as the one you use to check your email. If you do
not know your password please call the Help Desk at 610-519-7777.
Where are the labs located?
Public computer facilities are located in both Mendel and
Tolentine halls.
Mendel Lab is in room G85. Tolentine Labs are located in the basement of the
building in rooms B2 and B4. The multimedia room is located in room B6.
What are available hours?
Tolentine B2, B4 and Mendel G28 are open twenty-four hours a day. However,
consultants will only be available between 9am and 5pm. The multimedia room is
open Monday thru Friday 8am-8pm.
Can I use the labs for nonacademic purposes?
Yes you may. However, if no other computers are available and someone needs a
machine for academic use, you may be asked to give up your computer. The
multimedia room's color printer is only for academic use.
I am unfamiliar with a piece of hardware or software.
Look for a consultant on site.
Can I save files on public computers?
Computers are ghosted without notice so any files stored on the computer may
be deleted. It is suggested that you save all your work to either a floppy disk
or your network account.
How do I use my network account?
You can access your network account by logging in to the Novell network. You
will need to use your user ID and password to log in. After logging in, a folder
called VUTree Applications will appear on the desktop and you will be able to
access the programs in your account through this folder.
I lost a disk in the lab, is there a lost and found?
Yes there is a lost and found located in each lab near the printer. If its
not there, come to the multimedia room and check the shelf in the back of the
room. If a disk is not claimed after a month we will reformat them. If you lost
any other possessions ask a consultant in the multimedia room, as we will hold
on to other belongings people left behind.
How can I print transparencies, and what type of transparency should I use?
You may use a 3M transparency sheet, although we do not supply students with
transparencies. DO NOT USE C LINE TRANSPARENCY FILM FOR LASER PRINTERS STOCK
#60827 BECAUSE THEY WILL MELT IN THE PRINTER.
Can I make an appointment to use equipment?
There are no appointments. This lab is first come, first served. However,
during finals professors may make appointments to use the Test Scanner.
Are there any other rules or regulations?
Yes please review them here.
