Villanova University Laptop Program Agreement

Students are responsible for the usage and care of their computer, and there are rules and policies that govern their usage.  The University has a comprehensive Computer Usage Policy that can be reviewed in the Student Handbook. Students are also bound by the terms and conditions of the license agreements for the software that they use. We hope that you will use the laptop in all aspects of your university life.  Commercial use of the equipment and/or the software violates our legal agreements and is prohibited.

Each student is responsible for any loss, damage or theft of the computer up to $1,000.00 for the first incident.  In the instance of severe abuse or negligence or a second incident, the student is responsible for the cost of the entire repair or replacement, as determined by the Assistant/Associate Dean and the Laptop Program Manager.  The computer must be kept in full working condition and, if necessary, only be repaired through the Villanova University repair program.

In the event of a theft the student is required to file a local police report, and  contact Villanova University's Public Safety Office at 610-519-6979. Villanova University's Public Safety Office will contact the Laptop Program Manager to prepare a replacement laptop.

At the end of your sophomore year, immediately after final exams, you will be required to exchange the computer for a new state of the art computer.  Failure to return the exchanged computer will result in a tuition charge for the residual value of the machine.

Important Note

If you are no longer a Freshman student at Villanova University or an upperclassman student in the School of Business or the College of Engineering, you must return the computer in full working condition to the TechZONE in Vasey Hall, Rm. 101. This includes upperclassman students transferring to another College within Villanova, all withdrawals from the University, leaves of absence, or for any other reason.

Failure to return the computer will result in a non-refundable tuition fee equal to the residual value of the machine. Failure to pay any amounts due under this program agreement may result in transcripts being withheld.
