Led by more than 200 U.S. universities working with industry and
government, Internet2 develops and deploys advanced network applications
and technologies for research and higher education, accelerating the
creation of tomorrow's Internet. Internet2 recreates the partnerships
among academia, industry, and government that helped foster today's
Internet in its infancy.
Internet2 has a number of working groups, forums and initiatives that
may be of interest to Villanova's faculty, students, and staff. Below is

What is U.C.A.I.D. & Abilene
Abilene:
Abilene is the national network that provides the connection between regional
providers of Internet2 such as MagPi with other Internet2 Universities.
UCAIDD:
The University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development (UCAID) was
created to advance the development of research and instructional
applications and technologies. UCAID consists of 125 members who are
commitied to the use and development of these applications.
Grant Information
The primary sources for grant money for projects involving I2 are
various agencies of the federal government. It is worth noting that a
project does not have to be about I2; it may qualify for grant monies if
it involves the use of I2 technologies. Various private corporations
have also provided grants for I2 related projects, although there is no
central clearinghouse for relevant information. Various Universities
such as the University of Alabama ,
University of Memphis ,
University of Michigan are
involved in various projects such as

music project.
