Video/Audio Documentation, Duplication & Editing
Unit's Media Services
has a number of video related services. These include duplicating
videotapes (fewer than five copies), converting one video format to
another (such as Hi-8 to VHS), converting a foreign VHS video standard
to enable viewing in this country, duplication of audiotapes
(limited number of copies), conversion from analog to digital (VHS to
DVD) and placement of digital materials on our streaming servers. Please call 9-5777
for further information or visit

Important: For duplication and
conversion you must fill out and provide a signed
Video Services Request Form with the materials to be duplicated or
converted.
Note: Media Services does not
provide or sell blank media (VHS, DVD, CDs etc..) to faculty staff and
students.
Equipment Check-Out, Loan Periods and Viewing Rooms
Media equipment used for instructional and research purposes is
available for check-out to Villanova faculty and staff. Included are
camcorders, VCRs, televisions, projectors (data/video, overhead
transparency, slide, etc.) as well as other equipment. Equipment checked
out from MT should be for instructional or research purposes. The
average loan period is 3 days; however, we may have some flexibility
depending upon the type of equipment and demand. Advance reservations
are highly recommended to ensure availability. Any student wishing
to borrow equipment, must have written permission from a Villanova
faculty or staff authorizing them to take such a loan. Please note that faculty
and staff (or their departments) are fiscally responsible for theft,
loss or damage of borrowed equipment, which includes equipment borrowed
by students who are authorized by faculty or staff.
Unit has equipped all Registrar scheduled classrooms with permanently
installed media equipment. Most classrooms have multimedia systems with
data/video projectors, VCRs, laptop connections for PowerPoint
presentations and other computer programs, network access, and large
screen video playback, as well as overhead transparency projectors.
Faculty who frequently require multimedia capabilities in their
classroom should communicate those needs directly to the University
Registrar to secure appropriately equipped classrooms.
Unit's Media Services has two multimedia equipped classrooms
designated for faculty who only occasionally require large screen
multimedia capabilities. One of these classrooms is equipped for video
conferencing. These rooms are very popular and should be booked as far
in advance as possible, preference will be given to those specific
technologies not available in other classrooms and those needing large
seating capacity. Please note that the Viewing Rooms can not be
scheduled for an entire semester. |
