Olympus Digital Voice Recorder (shown on right) - This recording device along with a mic can be used to record  classroom lectures.

Horizon Wimba - The Voice Tools which are part of Horizon Wimba may be used to make audio recordings outside of the classroom.

Audacity - Audacity is a free program may be used for editing audio files.  There are both documentation and tutorials for using Audacity available at the help site.

iTunes - Once podcasts are completed they are stored in iTunes and accessible within a particular Vista course or made available to the Villanova community.  It is also possible to share recordings with anyone having an Internet connection.

RSS - RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication and can be likened to a news feed.  This software lets you subscribe to podcasts whether they originate from Villanova or from some other Internet location.  You can subscribe to podcasts dealing with a wide range of  topics and many of the leading news services offer podcasts too.
