Wimba voice tools are a set of tools that allow you to use
audio within WebCT to communicate, collaborate with and teach your
students. There are four different tools available:
- Voice Authoring - allows the instructor to record a message and have
it delivered via a web page in WebCT.
- Voice E-mail - This tool allows the instructor or student to send a
voice e-mail
- Voice Direct - provides real time voice conferencing over the web for
multiple participants
- Voice Board - a bulletin board that allows for audio discussions
These tools are available to all WebCT courses.
Online Training for Wimba
Any member of Villanova may enroll in weekly online training sessions
for either Voice Tools or LiveClassroom:
These free customer training sessions can:
- Teach new instructors and presenters how to use Wimba's
products
- Help existing instructors and presenters refine their skills
- Help trainers and champions develop an internal training program
Each session lasts 1 hour and is conducted within a live, interactive
environment facilitated by Wimba experts. After training, you
can refer to
practice exercises, best practices documentation, and even the scripts
and slides from training to refresh your knowledge or help teach others.

Wimba LiveClassroom
Wimba LiveClassroom combines voice over the Internet (VoIP)
technology with additional tools such as application sharing, polling,
and chat. Instructors can interact with students in a synchronous
learning environment or record and archive lectures for later viewing.
Please contact the CIT to activate LiveClassroom in your own WebCT
course.

In order to record audio use the Wimba voice tools in WebCT you
will need a headset with a microphone. Headsets cost between $10-$20.
