A Data Warehouse is the
main repository of an organization's historical data — its corporate
memory — and contains the raw material for management's decision support
system. The critical factor in using a data warehouse is
that a data analyst can perform complex queries and analysis, such as
data mining, on the information without slowing down the operational
systems.
Most of the departments and
offices in the University need and have access to specific data and
reports. Such a high volume of information always spurs the need for more
reporting applications as well as a growing data warehouse.
