What is NOVASIS?

NOVASIS or Banner Self Service is a secure web browser based product used by students, faculty, staff and alumni. Banner Self Service retrieves and records real time data directly to and from Banner database, based upon the user's role in Banner. NOVASIS provides information in an easy-to-read format and is accessible from any computer connected to the Internet.

Which Browser should I use?

NOVASIS works fine in both Netscape and Internet Explorer. While IE is more preferred, Netscape may be used if it's an up-to-date version.

How do I access NOVASIS on Internet?

You need to first log into the Villanova homepage. From there, you will click on NOVASIS link on your right.  You will need your user ID/SSN and PIN. A generated PIN is mailed to every Student/Faculty/Staff. The first time that you login you will be prompted to reset it. Please make sure to store it in a safe location. We recommend that you change it in a regular basis.

What is the difference between Banner and NOVASIS?

The main difference between the Banner and NOVASIS is that the Banner Web based application is for day-to-day business processing and data-entry. It requires more user-end training and security. The primary users of Banner Web based application are the administrative departments (ex. Registrar's Office, Human Resources, Housing, Finance, Bursar's Office, Financial Aid, etc.). NOVASIS is a self service product for students and employees. It is accessible to all Villanova University employees, students, and alumni. The primary users of NOVASIS are Faculty and Students.

Who maintains NOVASIS?

NOVASIS is maintained by EWS in UNIT, which provides maintenance, customizing/developing, troubleshooting. The DBA group provides DBA and Security services.

What are the PC requirements for NOVASIS?

To access the NOVASIS , your PC must have the following.

  • A browser (Internet Explorer/Netscape
  • Internet Connection

How do I print class rosters?

Faculty can print their own up-to-the-minute class rosters using NOVASIS.

  1. Login to Faculty Self Service
  2. Open the Summary Class List
  3. Before you print your class list, set the paper orientation to Landscape
  4. Print the class list by clicking the Printer icon or choosing the File menu and Print

What should I do if I've forgotten my PIN or my account has been disabled/locked?

If you have forgotten your PIN, you can click on one of the "Unable to Login in" links that reflects your VU status and provide the Information required: Your Villanova University UserID/SSN, Your Villanova University email address and your birth date. If you are still having a problem, please contact the Help Desk at 97777 email to support@villanova.edu

Is any help or support available for NOVASIS?

Is there a time limit in NOVASIS?

For your protection, if your Banner Self Service session has more than 30 minutes of inactivity, your session will be terminated.
